Rear Finish Mower Big Bee 60

Need some advice on mower. Mahindra 2216 w/loader and a Big Bee 60 finish mower. I am cutting my yard , about a half acre, and when mowing sometimes the mower slows - PTO starts dropping - and it will kill the engine if I don't push in the clutch . Don't seem to be scalping and the yard is basically flat with high places just like all yards I guess.
I keep thinking it should stay at speed even if I hit high spots and scalp the dirt up but not that familiar with tractors and attachments. I have the spacers out so as to cut the grass short and have cut also with one half inch spacer and still had same problem.
Any advice for newbie. I hope it ain't a problem with tractor. I kinda like it.

Big Bee 60

Might want to consider adjusting your ground speed and try a lower gear. Is this grass you are cutting and what kind? I know bermuda will slow a push mower due to its long runners.

You also may want to check the following:

1. As PTO slows is there an odor indicating something is hot?

2. Consider checking the mower blades for a sharp edge.

3. Consider checking the mower belt(s) for correct tension.

Know if blades are dull or installed backwards this will cause a tractor to stall. Even coming directly from a factory. Would not be the first time something was installed backwards. Just verify mower rotation and cut edge on blade(s).

I don't know what the HP requirements are for finish mowers but rotarty cutters are 5 HP per foot. You might be right at the max your tractor can pull. tractordata shows your tractor has 17.5 PTO (gear) HP, think I saw in another post where you got a gear tractor. Slowing down might be the best bet.

I have 25 PTO HP and run a 6' rotary cutter. My tractor will bog down going too fast or in tall, thick grass.
