Big Boy

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but whatever happened to Big Boy anyway? It seemed like there used to be locations at every highway exit across the country. If you visit their website now, they've only got locations now in a handful of states.
They seem to be going the way of Howard Johnson's, Burger Chef, or the Red Barn! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If anyone wants the ultimate lawn ornament, I see there's places on the internet that have Big Boy statues available. Now that so many of their restaurants are closed, you could probably line an entire army of Big Boys down the side of the driveway! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He has his thumb tucked under the strap of his overalls.

Andy, I was still a teenager when the first one was built in Dallas, but I never would do business with them for a long time because they tore down the biggest, nicest, drive-in restaurant with the prettiest carhops in town to build that thing. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Scott,
Thanks for sharing the pics. I wonder if I could hide my Boomer in the bucket! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

AndyM,
Still got one alive here in town running strong. I like going in and eaten breakfast there on the weekends every now and then. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How 'bout a D9G running over cars?
The audio is bad and it's a little slow, but it weighs 90,000lbs. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Their website only list locations in SEVEN states.
That doesn't seem quite right, but then again Howard Johnson's went from over 1000 locations just 25 years ago to their current TEN locations! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Where abouts are you in Southern Ohio? I remember a location in Cambridge, but it closed a few years ago and became a Chinese restaurant, which has since closed. I'm pretty sure the one in Marietta is gone now too. Up this way, I know of several that have closed during the past few years.

Since I'm terrible at changing the subject of TBN threads, here's a picture to keep things back on track. We had a piece of equipment delivered to the place where I work the other day. I always been facinated by trailers like this. This trailer is at least 120 feet long nad was carrying 350,000 pounds!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Wow! If it takes two trucks, they must be tied together and you know they must also have to go slow. The thought came to my mind that they should just drive it. Wouldn't you think that would get it there just as fast? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Brent: I couldn't remember where the Big Boy's thumb was. I thought I remembered him giving a "thumbs up," but you are obviously correct. Knowing his thumb is under his suspender, it's easy to see now. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
