The L5030 will be all the power needed for his snow blower and the HST will be about the smoothest he can get. I really liked my L48 power which shares the same engine. For versatility, he will be all set.

I think the hydro on the 5030 is actually better, modulation wise than my 3710 was. The cruise lever is a big improvement. I use the cruise lever to "drive" the tractor about 90 % of the time.

Funny you mention about driving the tractor with the cruise level. I do the same (with the L4330hst) when on the road. We have lots of rises and dips in the roads. I use the cruise to maintain my rpm as I'm driving along the road. To bad they did have cruise for reverse.

I think that would be a big liability problem. Imagine the cruise in reverse and when you get right on top of an object, say your car and you forget the cruise is actuated (remember, you are looking backward, not at the dash light) and you run into your car), wow.

That is my favorite feature as far as controls go. Second is the loader joystick.

My suggestion for Kubota is to place a 4WD indicator light in the dash. It's really hard to determine whether you are in or out of 4WD as the actuator lever is on the left side down by the floor. You have to lean over and actually look at the position of the lever to tell. Not that I use 4WD very much.

Derek, I rarely use the cruise control, but it is about the easiest one to use made. It could actually be a hand control for HST for someone who cannot use their feet. The reverse ability is out and as Daryl mentions for pretty obvious reasons. You will find if you should get a Kubota HST that those bumps and things become something that your foot will actually sense out as you go. That is to say, while going forward (or reverse) you sense the bump and your foot will instantly react slowing the tractor down to smooth it out. It will be second nature. To draw an analogy, it's much like the learned response you develop while driving a Bobcat skid steer. If you have never driven one, your first 5 minutes on one is a memorable experience. Hope you get it all straightened out. I would think that that T-8 powered landscape rake with a HST would be a combination you will not be able to match with any other design. It works superb with my Pro 8 from Harley. Rat...

I've seen them mount that joystick on non cab models as well. It is very smooth from my fooling with it without the engine running. At the time I thought it was added for a person that may have needed assitance. I soon realized it was designed for the cab model yet there is no reason a person who does not have a cab could not use it if they liked it.
