Any idea on air filter life? How often should it be checked?

It completely depends on your operating conditions. I have seen filters that were several years old that the only reason I replaced it was its age. And I have replaced filter with several hours on them because they were in extremely dusty areas.

Older tractors had 2 and sometimes 3 rear PTO speeds. Most new tractors only have 1.

I believe they are talking about high range in the transmission. I saw the answer to this this in your other post and I can't answer any better.
