Blitz Non-spill Fuel Can

It could be a federal reg if it stated it was only required in states where there are smog issues, etc above a certain level.

Hmmm I do find this regulation strange also. Never was real keen on the Blitz Jugs anyway. Always seemed to pour way too slow even sometime stopping midpoint during fueling.

If these 6 states can't handle the cans that are working ok in the other 44 states it looks like it's a problem with the 6 states not the cans.

Same here. I never liked the Blitz design that had the spout inside the container for storage. Now it sounds like they have a design that's an engineer's wet you know what. The one I use has a separate vent cap. Fuel flow is a trickle until you pop the vent cap. It allows you to get the spout in place first.

I have never spilled soooooo much fuel sense these cans were mandated. The poor performance totaly defeats the purpose.

I have had to fill several bullet heaters 50-60 gal at a time with these cans when it is -20 deg They are so slow the job now takes three times as long and much more fuel is being spilled.

I wonder if the old style cans could be ordered over the Internet to these States or if they'll say that would be illegal?

I, too. If the object is to reduce hydrocarbons in the atmosphere, the Blitz design can only be making it worse.

With no vent it can be interesting to see what happens when you put cool gasoline in the Blitz can on a warm day. As the can contents warm up, the internal pressure in the can increases, and pressure is relieved through the spout which is submerged in the gas. I saw a guy at a gas station trying to figure out what to do with his Blitz can that was shooting a (small) stream of gas about 15 feet. The only way to avoid this is to leave the cap loose, but then gas sloshes out.

I can already see trouble coming with the plastic lip of my gas tanks when the outside temps are high. Unfortuneatly, this is all you can buy in PA. now. My old cans were fine, but the spouts needed to be replaced. No dice, new law says vented gas can a no-no. Checked everywhere around for some type of non-spring spout, none found. Of course, what I find greatly gratifying is that prior to new reg. I could buy a new plastic gas can for $7.99. Now they are $14.25 each on sale!! )</font>

Why not go out of state and buy spouts for your old cans and the 2 new ones you just bought?

Might work if the <font color="red"> Spout Police </font> posted at the pumps of the service stations in those states don't nab you when you go in to fill up the cans.

Makes pay at the pump take on a whole new meaning.
