I don't see any negative in placing hooks behind double wall section, only means your chain if limited in length needs to be a few inches longer..... Once chain is in hook and secure the hook is serving its purpose.... IF that bothers you then either you "weld" on hooks and shackle eye at front edge of bucket or drill double wall section oversize and use weld in sleeve then bolts... The danger of not sleeving double wall section is under certain strains you may "pull" the hooks really hard and the bolts will compress the double wall section and then it becomes loose and double wall section becomes distorted and loses some of the strength....if you can get into/inside the double wall section, I can see the 3/4" pipe modification as a viable solution..
My Kioti RX-7320 has a square tube reinforcement integrally welded to the top of the bucket. If I was to add the hoods I would need to place the bolt-ons approx. 3.5" back from the front lip - as I'm trying to show on the attached images. Not sure how the chain would work having to go over that leading 3.5" inch bucket edge. May be just fine other than sliding back-and-forth over the front lip as well as keeping the bucket curled horizontal the the lifted object.
