Box Blade Width?

Well the search for a decent box blade is quite frustrating, if I have learned anything, it is that NOBODY makes a good medium/heavy duty blade. You go from the roughly 500lb models up to the 1000lb models with not many choices in between, the large Gannon/Woods blade is very nice but at around $3k it isn't an option for me. Basically with my local options I have found 2 contenders, the Bush Hog MBX line in 72 or 84 inch with the 72 actually putting more lbs per inch to the ground or the Woods BSM72, these at least get you up to the 650-700 lb range. I could always add more weight by tacking on additional steel or making a rack of sorts to pile on some concrete block or something. I will be building my own grader, my buddy can get pretty much any steel I need out of the drop racks at work for .33 per pound, I will call around and get pricing on those box blades and see if they have any suggestions for something comparable.

Yep, quality units don't come around used very often.

My plans for remotes, TNT and hydraulic box blade were down on my list of things to buy but jumped to the top of my list when I saw a 78" 4x2 Gannon on Craigslist.

If I wasn't set on going hydraulic, I would have purchased a roll over. Seeing in action in YouTube impressed me.

I pretty much quit searching the used stuff, around here craigslist is pretty useless, it is very rare for something worth buying to come up.

Take a look at one of these. Highly recommended.
I just shot them an email to see what their pricing looks like, maybe if the price isn't too bad I could forgo the top link for now and just stick with the roll over blade and get the hydraulic links in the future.

This would be my plan. ;)

I have a Gannon now, but I put over 2000 hrs. of commercial work on a Bush Hog MBX72. I just sold it last week for $600. The cutting edges had never been turned and still had a good edge on both. The only damage it ever suffered...broken scarifier tips. I highly recommend their product!

FWIW - Dirt Dog makes box blades for Bush Hog, so shop around.

Well, I guess I'll suggest the obvious: Everything Attachments 78" Category I & II Severe XTreme Heavy Duty Box Blade

This is what I use and I'm quite pleased with it. Not crazy expensive, fairly heavy compared with most other box blades, and it showed up at my house for about $80 in shipping.

I haven't counted out EA's blade yet but I think for that price I want to see what I can find closer to home, I am also out of their free shipping range by a bit so an order from them would require me to travel a couple hours or more to their nearest freight terminal to pick it up. The 1/2" sides are the biggest draw of the EA blade, the only other I have found so far with that is Woods, I plan to get a price tomorrow on that one.
