OR, you could buy a vastly superior First Choice box blade the same size for $285 at a dealer in your area. They had that advertised in a 'trader' book here maybe a month ago. It wasn't listed as a "sale price" so I assume it's their normal pricing. Even if you have to pay a little more the First Choice is well worth it.

I have a Woods HB-72 and it has an ID plate pinned to the left side of the top link support plate. Mine says its mass is 621kg. I know it doesn't weigh 1366 lbs so I placed a call to Woods. I was told that the 621 was pounds and not kgs less any accessories, including the shanks.

Their specs for the HB-72 says it weighs 660 lbs, so if I weighed the shanks, pins and clips, they should total 39 lbs, which added to the stated 621 lbs equals 660 lbs. Sounds good to me. Check and see what your ID plate says and let me know. I agree with you, the HB models should weigh more than the GB models, size for size.

Well, 3 months later and I am still looking at all the various brands of Box Blades. Liked Landpride ($700+/-), Bushhog ($498), etc... Finally had a chance to stop by First Choice dealer in Owensboro yesterday. All I can say is WOW! This thing was built like a tank.... 3/8" side walls on unit I looked at (6' blade price quoted was $399).

A great unit to look at and appears to be built tough. Is this price in line with those of you that have bought them?

I have a 5 footer and mine was quite a bit less but I avoided the dealer markup but had to pay tons in shipping so it all evens out in the end. If you are looking for a beefier model you could pick up the -30 version that first choice makes. Substantially beefier. I think the side plates on those are 1/2 inch. The cost isn't much more. I will say that mine (-20) is plenty strong enough for anything I'll ever use it for. This is why we all keep recommending them. They are indeed very well built and heck you can even get it painted to match your tractor.

I saw a 5' model advertised at a dealer in Southern IN for $285 about a month ago. The only reason I remember that is that was exactly what I paid for my 5' box blade. I'm sure they had a 6' model advertised there but didn't pay attention to the price of that one. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif I can't recall the dealer but they advertised in the IN Auto & RV Magazine.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check in Auto/Rv and see if they have current listing. While I don't begrudge a dealer the need to make a profit, I am also willing to try and get best price. Besides, I travel enough with work and can always throw my trailer on back of Suburban if I know I want to stop, look and maybe buy something new.

Bill, here is probably the best boxblade in the world. I never heard the brand name but it says "A.T.L.A.S." on the sticker. I pull it with a Yanmar YM2000 and it works great. $224, and the scarifiers have 3 adj. positions or you can remove them or turn them over. I can't imagine why anyone would need or pay extra for a swinging rear blade. It does nothing without some weight on it, and you can adj. a solid blade with the toplink.
