Hi,

$224 is a great price! Would probably buy one just for the fun of trying it if I came upon one for that price.

The lockable hinged rear blade is used for levelling as I understand it. Kind of a finish action.

bartman...if you mean First Choice dealers...I have not found any and have just about thrown in the towel with respect to First Choice. I have exchanged email with Pieter at First Choice a number of times...but have made no progress really. I would even drive an hour to pick one up, I am that impressed with what the TBN group has reported as to price and quality....

I am getting close to the point where I need to buy SOMETHING...and that my be the King Kutter box that Ed King told me about...from TSC less than an hour away.

Bartman, if you find a First Choice dealer somewhere between Pgh and where you are let me know! Maybe I would be willing to drive there to pick up a good product.

Guess I'm nuts, but...

Got together with Ed King for breakfast and a trip to TSC this morning. Neat place. About an hour's drive from here but I will be there again for sure.

After getting home I ordered a Woods HB60. I wanted the extra weight and felt that it was a one-time deal and that it would be prudent to get the lockable floating rear blade.

Cost at $699 delivered for the woods is more than double the pick up price of $299 for the King Kutter at TSC.

Wasting my money??? Maybe. Will have to decide later after trying the woods out.

Spent A LOT of time trying to decide. Wasted a lot of time might be the better way of saying it. Probably the KK would have been fine for my use...

Will have to report back after I get the thing and use it a bit...wish me luck!!!

PS...

Forgot to mention that I REALLY tried to buy a First Choice box blade, but found it impossible to accomplish...

Was even willing to unload a truck myself...if need be...

Regretfully, could not make anything happen from my end. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I am also looking for a boxblade for use on a JD 4110. Just talked to a local dealer, gave me a price of $375.00 delivered.
The model # he gave me was RB60 for a 5' box. The "R" is a number I haven't seen on any of these posts. Did the dealer just make a mistake or is this another style? Thanks...

Just figured my own question out! the price quoted was for rear blade not a box scraper!

Macher
First Coice, same problem here, I called them three times and was given two different dealers names. When I called the dealers they said they had no idea of who First Choice was or what they sold.I really can't figure out how to buy one of these things.
I am going to check out KK and another dealer later this week cause I want to get the grass in by fall
Wish me luck

The first 2 letter indicate the product category. The next 2 numbers indicate the duty level. The last 2 numbers indicate the size, and the last letter indicates color.

BB20-60R

BB Box Blade
20 Standard Duty
60 60"
R Red

In addition the second digit of the duty level indicates options.

RB22-60B

RB Rear Blade
22 Standard Duty w/tilt and offset vs 20 which means no tilt/offset
60 60"
B Blue

Will FC be coming out with a standard duty 54" box blade?
What could I expect to pay for one?

Really haven't had a lot of call for 54". Most folks who want to cover tracks for a machine which is wider than 48" just take smaller bites with a 60". When you stop to think about it, that's only 3" on either side.

We currently offer 9 box blades, then when you multiply for 4 colors you get 36 models. We have a dairy box coming out week-after-next in 3 sizes also taking us to 12 or 48. But all these are in 1 foot incremental sizes. But if demand dictates, of course we will have to consider the 54".

When you consider that most people would still want 5 scarifiers in a 54" model and that the hitch, hardware and labor would be equal, it would probably end up costing about the same as a 60". Dealers may not be favorable to adding it to inventory which further complicates life. But, all that being said, if consumers can convince dealers there is a market and get the volume there we would be nuts not to fill the niche. Larger markets that this have begun the same way. Look at the whole sub-compact tractor phenomenon!

An update on the Woods Boxblade weights, for those who might be interested.

I was just on Woods website and downloaded a new pdf brochure for their landscaping equipment. In it, they list the following boxblade weights:

GB60 at 495 pounds
GB65 at 517 pounds

HB60 at 559 pounds
HB65 at 586 pounds

So, the original published weights for the HB60 and HB65 were lighter than the actual weight, as suspected.
