Hey Kevin...There's a dealer here in Armada that carries International implements. I was in a bind and got a 5' brush hog from him. I hooked it up and beat on it for a few days. It did a good job and he offers their stuff at a pretty good price. The rest of the international line looks pretty good for what most people do with their compact.

I contacted First Choice back in June about a landscape rake, after several emails back and forth I never heard back from them about a local dealer or a direct purchase. I guess they don't have a distribution network in the northeast. I needed a rake, so I went out and bought a Woods. Just something to consider if you really need a box blade in the near future.

I got my First Choice box blade within a couple weeks of ordering it. I'm sure they'll be happy to give you a lead time estimate if you call them. They're really good people. I would imagine they're very busy people now, but still good nonetheless. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey Bill,
I was just went down to TSC near Wheeling, they have the King Kutter 5' boxblade for $299. Seems to be fairly well built. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you directions to get there.

Thanks Ed,

I will take a look at the king cutter specs and see what I think.

Appreciate your help!

Well...the King Kutter Box blade is about 150 lbs lighter than the Woods, and it doesn't have a hinged rear blade...

BUT it is so much cheaper! $299 VS $705!

Can the Woods really be worth more than twice the price?

I wonder...Naturally it will take me a couple hours to go get the king Kutter, vs the Woods being delivered for that price...but still...

Have to sleep on it tonight, but I do need to get one soon...

I got the dealer to throw in a cheap box with the tractor purchase. I think the retail price would have been around $350 for the brand "Southern". I have to admit that I was using it pretty hard on a bigger tractor. But after less than 20 hours of using it to bring buried debris (branches, root balls, and an occasional log) to the surface, it's trashed. The teeth are still in pristine shape, but they are tearing out of the teeth "sockets". The bar the holds the teeth is torn in half a dozen places. A good welder (not me) might be able to repair and reinforce it, or I may just need a new box.

So maybe there's your difference between your $300 box and your $700 box....

MikeNC,

That is a good point. I have alway subscribed to the "buy right, or buy twice" approach.

Not sure if I could damage the cheaper box blade like you did, since I only have 30 hp to work with. I would rather spend more to get good quality implements though. Just don't want to spend more for something that will work no better in my application than the cheaper alternative.

I could buy the Woods...if I do that will take $400 away from the fund, and delay the purchase of something else for a while, like a yard rake...probably a position familiar to most of us here.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Still unsure on what I will do.

Anyone out there think I could damage a King Kutter box blade with my B2910?

I used a 6' KK on my L2900 for years w/ no problem.
Now its on my 35D and doing fine.
When I put it on my JD 250 SSL for some HD pushing
I bent one of the bottom 3 PT pins.
Everything else fine.

I am one of those that is looking at a King Kutter box blade, 60" for $300 at a local dealer.

I will be using it for our gravel road and smoothing out a rutted out dirt road back in the field. We had a grass fire back there a couple of years ago and the fire department brought in a "plow" of some kind and made a "break" --- it just happened to be where the road was. Now we have a very uneven road and I need to get it back in shape.

So the long and short of it is, for this type of use, do I really need to spend $700 for this type of work or will the $300 blade do just as well???
