Macher,

I have a 60" box blade on my 2910 and it's about perfect. I still need to fill my tires though, because I break traction long before I run out of power. I'm pretty sure that a wider box blade would be overkill.

Just curious but do all you guys plugging First Choice get some sort of kick back or what? There seem to be a lot of links toward directing new buyers to this particular brand. I happen to own a LP1560 and am very pleased.

Bill,

I just bought a Woods HB60 for my B2910. I have only used it once...just playing for about 30 minutes...but it is really nice. I hope to re-grade part of the backyard this fall.

I paid $650...or somewhere there abouts...including delivery.

I also think the published weight for this blade might be about 90 lbs. less than the actual weight. I believe my dealer quoted me a weight over 500 lbs. If you compare the different "grades" of Woods boxblades (HB and GB specifically) it seems that this one should weigh more. The GB weights look O.K., but there is an interestingly large gap between the HB65 and the HB72. I think the HB60 and HB65 weights are incorrect (light). They have heavier end-plates than the GB series, yet, according to the website, the HB60 and HB65 weigh less than the GB60 and GB65.

I priced a few of the heavier duty Woods boxblades....they were over $1000. Much more than I wanted to spend.

Size-wise, I think the 60 inch width is a good match for the B2910.

Kevin,

I'm certainly not getting any kickbacks from First Choice when recommending their products but I can say that the 2 new implements I have purchased from them are first rate. I checked into several box blades before purchasing my 60" First Choice and I can say with certainty that it was a far better value than ANY of the others. Sure you could buy one equally as well built (such as yours) but it would be at least twice the cost.

The guys out there that are recommending these things are very sincere and very knowledgeable about these products. I am far from an expert but I have now put 30 hours on my box blade and am duly impressed. Now ask me about my new 3PH mower (First Choice). /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I'm sorry If I sound disrespectful but that is not the case. With so many posts, I always wondered If one was comming from someone that actually was in the business of selling implements, not necessarily First Choice even though that was the one I singled out. Only because all the other brands are very familiar to me. Had First Choice been in my neck of the woods when I was shopping, I would have given them a look over before I made my choice. (there's that word again) As It was, I chose the LP because it is very robust, But for half the price, sure would have been worth the look. And with all due respect on your part, How do you like your First Choice 3PH mower?

Kevin,

I didn't think you sounded disrespectful and I don't think you were the first to mention that. Actually I thought you were joking.

I checked out Woods, Land Pride, Frontier, etc. all of the big boys but they weren't in my budget. I believe that Pieter (from First Choice) used to work for Land Pride many years ago.

My mower, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Besides making the mistake of cutting my lawn just a wee bit too short the first time I tried it out I just love it. I'm actually using it to "mow" some areas that I used to use my brush hog on. The brush hog helped me clear all of the baby alder trees and blackberry bushes and now I just mow the dandelions like they are grass. Someday they might even be a lawn (when I get to that part of my yard).

If you are in the market for a 3PH mower I would highly recommend it. Mine is only a 5 footer - I see you have a JD 4300 so you could probably handle a much bigger one my little 855 (24 HP) does really well with the 5 footer.

You're right, I was just funnin around. When I was a shoppin for a back blade, all I had to choose from was just like you said. The big boys. Down here in SE MI., there seems to be trend as to who can carry the best stuff and charge the most.
This is what I'm finding out being new to this compact tractor hobby buisness. (Wife thinks it's a toy so it must be a hobby) Anyhoot. I know everyone is very knowledgeable and sincere and helpful etc.

Bill,

I picked mine up at the shippers terminal and they loaded it onto my flatbed trailer right there. Not being so fortunate as you to have pallet forks, I unloaded mine with chains and my backhoe. It was a piece of cake to do that way, but I'm sure pallet forks would have made it even easier.

In my case, the shipper was actually closer to my land than my office, where it was to have been delivered so this worked out very well for me. The shipper was happy to have me come by and get it rather than loading it and delievering it themselves so it was a win-win.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I just didn't want you to pass up the First Choice just because you thought you needed a loading dock. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Kevin,

FYI - I believe there are some dealers that carry the first choice stuff in your area now. Gary in Indiana who is probably somewhat close to you has bought some stuff from them. In my case there was no-one out here that carried it so the First Choice guys had to work out a reasonable shipping solution. Keep on tractoring.

Well...

Seems like I should get a box blade soon...can't wait, but will wait even though I can't...

For some reason First Choice does not seem to have a dealer near me. I have been in touch with them and received another email from Pieter today.

I could either go somewhere to pick it up or unload it here I suppose.

I am still up in the air about the hinged rear blade...which I do not think First Choice offers. The roll over style is another question...my guess that would be too pricy for me.

Anyway, I wish I could just make a decision and get one delivered!

I am sure that will happen, one way or the other in the next couple weeks.

As always, thanks for the input and keep it coming!
