When I left Iraq, they made us empty all of our stuff at customs in Kuwait. Took all souvenirs. You have been warned!

Stay safe.

Silly question, but why not mail them home?

The folks at the APO can (if they want) go through the mail heading out. It depends on the "mood" of the E-4 working that day.

For me, the souvenirs were not worth the hassle. I know many folks who came in their unit send stuff back in their containers that they shipped their gear in. Some of these containers are randomly inspected at the ports. One thing I have learned is never mess with Uncle Sam or the U.S. Army.

The Army has what is called UCMJ. Military justice. Not the same as civilian.
No souvenir is worth UCMJ.

According to the unit we are replacing, MIG parts are an approved war trophy. They mailed them home after telling the person at the APO what they were sending.

Brents, three more wing sections, one from the left tail rudder, and and the hydraulic "пожаренный на барбекю аллигатор" and we're good to go. We can use tractor seats for the pilot and co-pilot, ROPS and some good heavy tarps to replace the canopies. I know where we can get some light duty replacements for the cannon (I thought we'd try using Ruger 10-22s to keep costs down), we both know where we can siphon off some jet fuel, and we will have THE top dog in property and home defense systems. Let's just see some punk with his hot-rod jeep or half ton truck mess with us now. Ha!

Umm...exactly how much runway will we need? And did you say the postage on that next wing section was going to be $12.83 or $12,830.00?

Reminds me of that car that Johnny Cash built a piece at a time!

Yes my MIG parts collecting has gotten a few laughs, and yes someone was singing the Johnny Cash song to me the other day. Here are some pictures of my collection.

you sure those are mig parts? why all the english labels?

   / Brent Pepper, Member & Soldier #29
Absolutely sure they are MIGs. Some of the MIGs had labels in Russian, some in Chinese, but that all had English in them and on them. The exterior of the planes is where you saw most of the English. Every hatch and compartment had English, including as you might have seen, the CANOPY OPEN lever.

Just make sure someone in the know safes the aircraft. You don't want to be pulling something out and activate the ejection sequence. That would ruin your day, forever...........

I'm glad those airplanes are toast, but I sure hate to see any piece of machinery destroyed..........

Stay safe.
