Briar patch clearing help.

When we got our place it was covered wit black berrys and rasberrys. I found if I keep bush hogging them spring and fall they would disappear in a couple years. But if I cut them with a sickle bar they were gone for good.
Dont ask me why I'm not a farmer.

Just got the soil analysis back. As expected, very acidic area. I need to apply 1.5 ton of lime per acre now and again in 12 months. The area is not well suited for a commercial applicator. Too many trees, rocks, hills to get a large machine in there. Any ideas? I've got a 80lb lawn spreader that I used to spread pelletized lime on my lawn. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do all of it in time.

If your doing the whole place I would hate to try it with an lawn spreader. Check with your local NRCS, Ag extension office, or fertilzer dealer about commerical appilicators in your area. Some NRCS offices have some types of equipment for rent you could ask if they have a larger spreader. Or see it the fertilizer dealer has a spreader to use that will spread lime.
