Broken again, loosing faith

I agree that this can be a feature depending on what you want to do with your machine. My issue is mainly that Kioti has not documented this feature in any way. I should be able to read the manual and know that this lever is detented. I can read the manual for a Glock 19 and learn that it doesn't have a safety "switch" that needs to be disengaged before I fire (not that I or anyone else should put their finger in the trigger guard of a gun unless ready to fire), I can't read the manual for a Kioti and learn that the lever is detented or that it shouldn't be left in engaged position.
Thanks for the entertaining discussion, I did not (nor do I) see it as a personal attack, I just find it odd that:
1. This feature and its pitfalls are well known to Kioti users and dealers (to the point that some dealers will insist to removing the detents)
2. There have been enough issues that Kioti has said that they will not cover problems arising from this feature accidently being activated under their warranty
3. There isnt any kind of warning, labeling or notification ANYWHERE in the user accessible documentation or signage saying that bad things will happen to those tho leave the lever in the detented position without something connected to allow flow between the ports

My $0.02, have a good evening.

It is a poor design. Almost any common application I can think of (top link, hay rake, baler, disc, etc.) would do better with a return to center lever for the rear remotes.

I was running the tractor for 10 minutes one day and couldn't figure out why the heck the hydraulic pump was running constantly (something you know to listen for if you've run old ag tractors that allowed to "over" lift the 3pt) ...checked the lift, for leaks, etc... finally remembered the rear remote control and I'd engaged it with my leg..... had no idea it had detents as I haven't had an occasion to use the rear remotes on this particular tractor.

Ironhog,

I would agree with you EXCEPT, would you really use a 40HP CUT to do bailing, disking, etc.? I don't know if many people would or do those kind of tasks with CUTs in general- but from what I've seen; and taking to local farmers it seems not too likely. I mention this NOT because Kioti is right in equipping their tractors with the first pair of rear remotes with detents and the second pair without, but because most Kiotis I've known use the 1st rear remote for hoes and such, and when removed its easy to install a short loop.
Should Kioti note the proper way to operate the rear detented remote in their owner's manual and service manuals, ABSOLUTELY! But then they wouldn't make as much off us dumb 'amerikans' as they can by not mentioning it anywhere EXCEPT to exclude any warranty coverage from misuse, YEAH!:confused2::mad:
Now there is a classic "Catch 22"

In the owners manual on pages 5-26 and 5-27. As usual not the best explanation but its there enough I asked my salesman about it.

Sure enough, it explains it and there is a side box labeled + Important:

Put the detent valve operating lever into the neutral position when the hydraulic implement is not in use. If the detent valve is kept in the operation position for an extended period of time the relief valve is kept open and the temperature of the hydraulic fluid rises leading to damage of various hydraulic parts such as the oil seals and O rings. When the detent valve is in operation, unnecessary load id applied to the engine. therefore the engine power decreased significantly and the noise and vibration by opening of the relief valve increase. It is hard to start the engine while the detent valve is in operation. This is especially true in winter and exhaust gas increases even after the engine is started.

We bale hay with our Kubota L3830 (did ~190 bales on Monday, have 2 more fields to go for another 400+ bales). I have also plowed the hayfields with it and a 3 bottom Oliver 4330 trailer plow, disced them with a 9' disc and planted them with a grain drill.

Works just fine for us on our ~20 acres of hayfields. Most farmers don't use that size machine because they are working 100s of acres, but for 20 acres it is big enough to get the job done.

What baler do you pull with your L3830?

We have a NH "Hayliner" 273 with a kicker. We bale into basket wagons and get 100-150 bales per wagon.

Aaron Z
Thanks fo the info. Do you have any trouble pulling baler and wagon up hills?
