This is the approach I would take with my wife. "Honey, I'm GETTiNG a new tractor and YOU are going to work overtime to pay for it. End of discussion. :)

Well Ken you know what we all think, and I am sure you are in a state of some anxiety over what to do about this offer. But we all don't know your situation as well as you do. I will just say again, you have one heck of a dealer there, that is trying to look out for you as best as he can and still survive himself. Good luck Ken.

HAAAA. I'm taking you up on your offer of stopping by for a drink the next time I'm on my way to T.O. You'll get the chance to sit down and met my wife, or at least the version of my wife you tell this to. Too bad Chris, she really liked you :laughing:

You guys are hitting the nail a little closer to the head now. What I'm not telling everybody is that I'm a software developer and I work as a consultant. I've known for about 2 months now that my contract is up at the end of May, my government client is undergoing major changes and the group I'm with is being disbanded and will obviously no longer have a budget for a consultant. That's all fine and normal in my line of work, but I was planning on taking the summer off to spend with my wife and kids since she's a teacher and will be off too. I've done well working as a consultant, but I'm done with the technology I've been using for the last 15+ years, and I need to take some time to re-tool a little. Again, that's fine, I'm certainly not going to starve, but it certainly doesn't make this the best time to spend more money on a tractor. Can I spend the money, yup, not a problem. Should I spend the money, depends how you look at it (I like how you guys think ). Will my wife tear a strip off me if I do, I guarantee it:D

Well, FWIW, I'm with the majority here. Part with the $2500 and trade up. Your dealer is being MORE than fair with you. Besides....... tractor cabs aren't all that uncomfortable to sleep in. It's only a week or so till the wife starts to feel bad. Call me crazy, but when a dealer starts talking about splitting a year old tractor...... its time start thinking about a new tractor. Trade up and don't look back.

Ken, there are probably some of us that wish we were in your position to upgrade to a DK50 by trading in a problem tractor and some cash ( I know it's your cash not mine). Think your dealer is being very fair with the deal. Have you looked at what he may do for you if you got a DK45? Perhaps that may narrow down the cash needed. As for your wife well all I can say is mine bought me my tractor almost 4 years ago for my birthday (with a bit of help from me), she has never driven it but she sure appreciates all the work :tractor: :cool2: I get done with it.
She is a pretty happy camper about the tractor.

When Brad from Markham mower delivered my tractor in December, my wife flew out of the house and said "what the heck is that?" Brad said "Dude, you didn't tell her?". Lol. True story.

$4500 more for the DK50
$2500 more for the DK45

After I got my CK30, my wife retroactively gave it to me for my birthday, Christmas, fathers day, anniversary, valentines day, Easter...

Don't everybody forget it's not just $2500, it's $2500 + a Woods BH-70x, that's almost $10K together.

My father always taught me it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I feel I've lived that to the fullest.

Don't forget to add:

"And Honey, please don't make me choose between you and the tractor"......

The approach I would take would be more like "at the rate this is going, we will be spending this money sooner or later, by spending it sooner we will get a new warranty and a more powerful machine"
YMMV
