It does sound like 6% loss is a pretty good exit strategy on a tractor that isn't doing what you need. Maybe ask them to give you a backhoe on the DK at "cost" since I think they are still making some money on this trade.

Getting 94% on your tractor you have had issues with is very fair in my opinion. The DK50 and add ons are more expensive but not out of line.
If you can find the cash or finance the difference the DK50 seems like a good deal.

a) Did I hear you right? $4500 moves you to a new DK50 HST cab? From a CK30 with a long list of problems that keeps you awake at night?
b) Who is the dealer. I want to buy my next tractor from them.
c) Get the new DK50, and take a lot of pictures. We love pictures.

I made him an offer of my tractor and bh + $1500 for a DK 45 hst cab (he had one of those to). He came back saying he needs $2500, so we were close, but since we're not playing horeshoes, close doesn't count.
I'm going to give it a few days to think about it but I think I'm best to forget all about it. My wife's not a big fan of the idea and as nice as the factory cab would be, I don't want to have to sleep in it.

Ken I was in the same place a few weeks ago about trading,,, Wife not too happy about the trade and using logic on me as to why we needed to incur more debt when the Kubota worked fine... So I finally got her to go with me, and while she had trouble with the DK40se, (she is partially disabled) my first choice, she liked the DK35se (the step is lower to the ground). I am enjoying the extra capability of the DK and all is well. I know your prices are higher up there, but man you are getting 94% of your investment back on the CK.. that guy is really trying to earn your business. Maybe look at a DK40 .. maybe that would shorten the gap. I bet if you could get the wife in one of those factory cabs and run around a little on the lot, things might change, They are awfully nice inside. You are right, it is your money, not ours.. but still sounds like the dealer is really trying.

Ken, you admitted you probably over work your CK30. I know you've got a sour taste about Kioti at this point and I don't blame you for that after all you have gone through. I also can appreciate if the wife is not on board that can make thinks a little dicey:confused2: But it sounds that your dealer is giving an honest attempt at helping you. I would take the deal. I don't think you would regret it.

You're right, he is trying and it is tempting, and I'd be lying if I said I'd thought of much else since talking to him about it yesterday. My wifes reaction was pretty decisive though. There is a difference between her and your wife and most of the other wives here on TBN, she's driven the tractor a total of about 15 ft after a LOT of encouragement on my part, and she hated every foot :laughing: That's the sum of her experience on a tractor. Getting her to go to my dealer and actually get out of the car would be as easy as her getting me to go to a weekend scrap-booking convention:laughing: Here's what she wants me to do, in order of course.
1) Sell my CK, take the money and invest it, forget I ever had a tractor.
2) Give my CK away, any takers?
3) Re-consider #1.
4) Stop using it, tarp it off to hide it and forget it's there, maybe plant some shrubs around it.
5) Use the bh to dig a really big hole and bury it. This is only behind #4 because it would involve me spending more time on the tractor!
The only glimmer of hope I have is that she can't believe how much my CK breaks. After this last time she asked me how much they're going to charge to come and fix it after the warranty is over and how much it's going to cost if they have to haul it away. This, and the fact that she knows me and that my complaints about my tractor not being able to do everything I want it to means it's a sure bet one day I'll trade up anyway, might get me a yellow light, and we all know what to do when the light goes yellow!

That is the angle I would work on. If you have another issue like you have had once the warranty runs out, you will be out that extra $2500 in no time.

Oh, wow. what can I say? Well my wife really likes us having the tractor, and can't imagine us not having one. It is her projects that we really work on more than mine. She doesn't drive it a lot, but she does drive it some, and we needed one that fit her. Don't forget the new warranty you will be getting with the new tractor. That alone is worth the price of the trade. Good luck Ken.. and OH.. yellow light? Hit the gas!!!

This is your one and only opportunity to turn something that's gone wrong into something that is right. You could always buy another hoe at a later date if needed.
Do it now- ask you wife to put aside her concerns so you can solve this problem once and for all.
No other manufacturer will give you a deal on your Kioti like your dealer is offering right now. Ask for a DK40 as I've suggested all along and make the deal.
A year from now you'll be glad you took the offer while it was there to take.
