Hello,

The grass is finally starting to grow here in the mountains of northern Vermont.

We just purchased a house and some property a few months ago and now the grass is getting long enough on the woods road and in some of the cleared areas that I need to start thinking about getting a brush hog.

I have a Kubota 4330 so I am guessing I would want a 6 foot or wider model. With Brush hogs do you want them to be wider than your rear tires?

What does a mid level brush hog or woods model run price-wise? Just a ballpark would be great. I need to get some time to head down to my dealer and see what they have in stock for me.

Thanks

Ya want your hog to be the same width or slightly wider than your tracts. An exception,of course, would be if you have lots of open pasture and frequent need to mow then go with the widest mower your tractor can handle.

I think a Countyline/King kutter 6' unit will cost you about $1200 new. Will do fine unless you have a lot of really rough stuff. Used 6' mowers are a bit rare in my area, so they get a good price. You can get a good 5' used mower for $500 or less if you look around.
