For everyone to read about your two bridges, it might be best to start a new thread and name it like you said "bridge# 2.....Because the pages are so long on your first bridge, and members could find "bridge#1 and bridge# 2 a lot easier if they have to do a search during the years.

I work in Lexington, went to U.K. (not for engineering), I have been to all those places. Yes thats the gorge I was talking about. What part of ky are you in?

Natural bridge & the red river gorge is a very nice place.

I live in Johnson county in Eastern KY...and can be in West Virginia in about 35 minutes.

It's 120 miles from my home to the campground at cave run, and i can be on the mountain parkway in about 25 minutes...and that's the road i travel if i go to Lexington or Louisville.

Thanks for your concern. As I said before I think I over-engineered it. It has 4 6x6's and 4 supports, my little tractor isn't going to break it. I went for the "simple beam" mostly for looks and ease to build. I think maybe the 4x4's on the sides makes it look weak, they are not supporting anything but the rails. I tested the Kubota on 2 6x6's (with the backhoe on) and they held-up fine (not across the bridge). I'm not sure i've seen an A frame bridge, have any pictures of one?

One form of an A-frame would be if you added some diagonal bracing from your handrail uprights and made sure the uprights were well secured to the 6x6's at the bottom, that would turn the handrails into bearing some weight.

That is a great bridge project you did all around witht he aprouch and everything. How much does your tractor weigh?
