Building a workbench - cross-stack plastic tubs for drawers

This is for my 'new' home we're moving into now (in the city). I guess Im not gonna paint the steel structure, it looked like too much work. Hope it doesn't rust....:shocked:

We are lucky to live in a dry climate so we don't have to worry about rust.

My inside steel scrap pile on the floor hasn't fared too bad over the years. Some steel sitting there for at least 10 years looks the same as when I bought it new. And this was in a shop with a wood floor & crawlspace. New shop is on a slab.
Not sure if that's wetter or drier.
I avoid painting stuff out of laziness, but am usually glad when I did. But this workbench was a bit much... would need a spray rig I think. But now I have a project for later right?....When free time is abundant!

I'm sure someday I'll wish I painted it, after the mad scramble to get it all built, the drywall etc, during our move,,,,is long forgotten.. But the shiny black rect tube & mill-scaled angle iron should look good for a long time.

Welding outlet was on an inner wall, I'm moving it to the outer wall by the door. #6-3 wire.

Heres the 6-year rust report. 4 posts have light rust. 6posts are still mill-scale.

The drawers pull out. It won’t be hard to paint if I ever get a round tuit. What I really need to do is clean off the workbench.

Yes its GOOD. I’m thinking about adding another rack.

That round tuit will get used to clear off the benchtop (hopes&prayers)
