Building an 8遅16 gooseneck dump trailer

Definitely had fold down sides. I could see multiple hinges at bottom edge of sides. The 16 length was a guess, but Im pretty sure, dont know why my length guess really matters.
Its the dual wheels with folding sides that surprised me.

Can't see the socks on the family room floor or the dishes in the sink the wife is complaining about, but can see trailer hinges and judge the trailer's length to 1" on the highway on an approaching vehicle with a closing rate of 130 MPH........ LOL....... God bless men...... LOL

You can take this or leave it, I care not. I have no doubt someone that works with equipment and trailers every day can estimate a trailers length within a foot or two from a quick visual. Just because you cannot does not mean nobody can. Once you develop a sense of scale for an item it really is not difficult at all. And like HayDude said, it was not the dimensions so much as the features that were noteworthy. Now go pick up those socks.

No, I think Id go with the Diamond C since cheaper and delivered to nearby dealer.
Looks like Diamond C deck over 8x16 gooseneck with fold down sides, 10k axles with super singles, spare tire and wheel is about $15,800.
Id have to pay $1000 more and drive to Kansas for the Titan :laughing:

Still going to look at Felling. I have a dealer nearby and I hear they make a heck of a good trailer.

Im not hurrying this one. Going to keep investigating.
I will say the 20k Diamond C at $15,800 is a better trailer than the 16K Sure Trac at $12,900 even though its $2900 more.

The picture I was talking about is this one of my Lamar spring trailer. Sorry, my bad, I posted it on another thread not this one. See what happens when ya get old But note the frame damage. And yes, I do like my torsion and yes you don't have to, Lol

I do understand not all spring trailers are the same, longer or shorter hangers, frame type, axle size, u-bolt size and spring arch all play a part. Maybe my Lamar is just a poor example. Thanks for the comments.

That trailer has lived a hard life and it’s a 1999 model. If it’s not happened yet it’s probably not going to.

Probably not much call for them. In your case it would work fine, some way to unload hay bales without a loader. However, with the light duty shallow sides they won't hold much volume for normal dump trailer duties. The sides are short so they will clear the ground when folded down and prevent a user from overloading the side strength with the capabilities of a big dually. With 3' or 4' sides they need to be solid with the side stress of a big load of rock/cinders.

Pallet material needs a loader so a flatbed works fine, no need for a dump. They just look like they are not a good flatbed nor a dump trailer. Kind of a red headed step child

I made my 7 ton farm tractor dump trailer with fold down sides. Sold my flatbed bale trailer, will use one trailer from now on. The deck is just over 3 feet high and i have 20 inch boards. Its a three sided dump so i can dump dirt out the back with automatic tailgate latch, and when i dump a load of brush i manually fold down a board and dump over the side so i dont have to carry my tailgate out. The 20" boards already hold more dirt than whats good for a 7 ton tandem.
