I made my 7 ton farm tractor dump trailer with fold down sides. Sold my flatbed bale trailer, will use one trailer from now on. The deck is just over 3 feet high and i have 20 inch boards. Its a three sided dump so i can dump dirt out the back with automatic tailgate latch, and when i dump a load of brush i manually fold down a board and dump over the side so i dont have to carry my tailgate out. The 20" boards already hold more dirt than whats good for a 7 ton tandem.

Yeah Im thinking a 16’x8’ dump trailer with 20” sides loaded with gravel or dirt will be well loaded, even with 10k axles. Thats 7 yards without a heap pile in the middle.
I will haul some gravel, but bales and pallets will be #1 and #2

Re: Building an 8 to 16 foot gooseneck dump trailer

Why wouldn’t you use your GN for pallets and bales. You can’t dump either one can you?

So today Im reviewing a dealers offer sheet for a Diamond C 8x16 foot with 2) 10k axles, ready to buy, and I noticed the SS tires are listed as 14ply with a load rating of only 4000lbs each.
That sounds way too low. 20k GVWR and 16k tires.

I DO use my big GN for bales, probably 100 loads/year.
Cant haul lose aggregates on GN flatbed and sometimes we need 2 trailers at the same time.
Also want smaller trailer for a few tight driveways some of my customers have. Why do I have to explain? :confused3:

Yes, that is what I posted here:

Just bring it to the dealers attention and insist on the super single.

I would be finding out for certain how wide duals would be on the same axles.
A specification, not speculation.

I could handle, but be annoyed with 4800lbs.
But 4000lbs is out of the question.
Might as well save $4,000 and buy a trailer with 8k axles.....which I may very well do.
I don’t think most of the people selling these trailers know what theyre doing.

I am going to ask again, but it was my understanding the folding sides werent available with duals, but I could be mistaken.

I can get a Sure Trac 8x16 with 2) 8k axles and 17.5 rim/tire, tarp, dual jacks and rear jack stands for $12,950 and it’ll be here in December.
Won’t be built as heavy, but Im so sick of trading emails with Diamond C dealer, I might bite on the Sure Trac.
The thing that really ticks me off is that there was 5 8x16 triple 8’s (Load Trail, Iron Bull) all available last winter I could have chosen from. Now you cant find one within 1000 miles.
Not as heavy/nice as DC, but there IS something positive to say about availability
