I'm reading the same Eddie however I'm planning to go ahead and bring it closer to a 3:1 slope before wrapping this up. Not only for piece of mind on erosion but for a safety factor as well. As is if someone fell into the water or slid on this bank you could never stand back up. Just too steep.

For erosion, the most important slope is that which is at the waterline (low and high) and above. If you need to go steeper below the waterline to get a lower slope above, to avoid moving 'too much' dirt... that is what I would do.

Picked up a job the last week cleaning up fence lines and clearing some overgrown land with the track loader and cutter. Finished that up yesterday. Trackloader is back home and spent a little time this morning moving some dirt to the dam. Rain this afternoon.. Fresh dirt in the pic will be the final grade. Should be about an 8 to 10 hour job to finish up. On the plus side the pond is getting slightly bigger. Maybe not by volume but by surface area.

That's going to be tricky at the pipe. Is the puddle solid bottom so you can get in it?

Puddle is actually about 6 feet deep. Will pump it out and extend the pipe

Haven't addressed it yet. Will probably cut the overflow into the hillside east side of the dam. Opposite of what's shown in the last pic. Will cut a path into and down the hillside where the dam meets untouched ground so water doesn't flow down the built dam. Will line with some rip rap rock to help control erosion in an overflow event.

You mentioned riprap in your reply about the overflow. Is it expensive there? Instead of spending so much time adding dirt to the inside of the dam to make it safer for people to get out of the water if they slide in, would it be possible to add riprap to the to of the dam where the water will be? This is done on large Reservoirs to control erosion from the waves of the Reservoir, and to discourage animals from digging into the dam, but it would also make it a lot easier to get out of the water if somebody fell in. As it is, with what you are doing now, I don't see it being any easier to get out of the water with the additional soil that you are adding.
