Pat; no depth of cut, just all the way thru. Now of course we have to be able to terminate the lazer beam at some point but a surely a diffuser of some type could be devised by the fellows from MIT.:D :D :D

Isn't lazer technology used for cutting in industry??

Mike, Perpetual motion is not theory it is fantasy. I meant no slight to you and apologize if I in any way wronged you as that was not my intent. I usually try hard to avoid an ad hominem. I may attack vigorously what is said but hopefully NOT the guy saying it. Pat

Pat, Annoyed -sometimes, challenged -definitely, wronged -absolutely not. I read your posts because you are zealous in your beliefs. I agree that perpetual motion is fantasy but many theories have been proven to be fantasy & many fantasies have ultimately been proven possible. e.i. the earth is flat, space travel. The words can be pretty much synonomous. Mike

egon I think water is more popular for cutting then after that maybe plasma

egon I knew a guy that got his masters at MIT was actually a pretty level fellow he was in charge of the engineering group at a shipyard i worked at. He liked to square dance and his wife invited my wife and I to ride with them to a dance one evening. On the way back we were talking about a problem we had with repacing a radar antenna and I was trying to explain that it was a doppler tracking system and we did not have the equipment to align the antenna. I was doing the comparing it to a light beam for the track radar and trying to explain how doppler shift worked. He let me get all finished with my explanations listened very intently then told me that he had done his masters thesis at MIT on doppler radar antennas. But he was nice about it. :)

I already own the Sydney Harbour bridge , got the receipt to prove it . Bought it off a little Japanese guy that was having a closing down sale , threw in a set of Ginsu steak knives:p ....... With all the new technologies , daily advances in medicine , Nasa being able to drive a remote control buggy on Mars or send up the shuttle so that men can "space walk" and do work on information satelites that we have in orbit around our planet so that i can watch the Simsons and then glide it back to Earth and safely land it , planes flying at many times the speed of sound , Nuclear powered submarines able to launch missiles at any country from below the water , the Bionic eye just about to go into full scale manufacture , the Hubble space telescope able to take pictures of space to the begining of time 4.5 billion years ago etc etc etc etc .Yet people still say "that's impossible" , i would not say anything is impossible to us , the human race after witnessing all of these marvels .

Gemini; I don't even know how a laser works or what all it used for as for cutting or what is most popular instrument of choice for industrial cutting.

As for having met individuals that with much higher education that is also a non happening for me. Myself and people I've associated with are just like Jethro and graded out at the fifth grade when we couldn't fit in the desks no more!:D :D :D

Ginsu! Ginsu mower blades! They would mow grass, tomatos, bones, cans, bricks and never dull. Best thing, you could get a set of 40 for $9.95!

BTW, you'll be hearing from my lawyer. I have the REAL receipt for the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Egon I watch the discovery channel, TLC (the learning channel) and Are you smarter than a fifth grader. Between those three I learn all kinds of things.

Thomas, If I haven't told you my "don't judge a book by its cover" story about my radio/antenna tuning experience in Mexico, then ask.
