Said the pot to the kettle.

At the risk of being labelled a "know-it-all," it should be "holier than thou.":)

Steve

Correct. That is what I was aiming for, and missed. And as far as the comment you made, then erased, about the 'pot calling the kettle black', I don't profess to 'know it all' and I certainly don't enter threads bragging about how I haven't read any of the thread, then make off track comments and show videos of my own face making inane comments about nothing. "You must be a Redneck if...."
Erik may know a lot of stuff; what irritates me is how he presents his person. Less arrogance would go a long way, IMO.

And we all thought the pissin' contest / thread derail would be Fluid Film vs. WD40?

Well we all was wrong; there's no pissin' contest here, just the OP keeping his thread on track.
Got something to contribute to the actual discussion?

I chose to respond with humor to the over-the-top reaction to my tip.

I'm sorry that my levity missed the target audience and ask for your continual forgiveness.

Going on the basis of what you're saying above being sincere, I will say two things. You're a smart guy, and the bungee to hold the shaft in place while hooking up the collar could likely prove useful.
For the sake of peace among men, you are hereby absolved of all 'crimes' (joke) past and present.

Peace out,

CM

Yep, I do.

There are two types of sliding collar yokes, this type which in my opinion is difficult and awkward to connect;

This type, IMHO, is easier to use as you can pull back collar with your index and saluting fingers while pushing yoke forward with your thumbs.

We have both types plus a couple with the push button yokes. Keeping all three types clean and lubricated will make hookup easier. I use compressed air gun to blow dust and dirt out of the yokes when I get done with an implement. Then dose it down with Fluid Film. Before hooking up PTO next time I give splines a shot of FF so everything slides well.

I have tried WD40 and the dry lubes and feel that I get best results from the Fluid Film. Your experience may be different?

I have the difficult type yoke pictured above. It is definitely a PITA design, and next to impossible to install without 3 hands. What is the make or name of the second easier type you pictured? Do you find the push button to be most useful, easier to wrangle than the second pic design?

Thanks,

CM

On these pull-back style collars (which both of my rotary cutters have), I wonder why they don't make them where you could pull the collar back and then twist it to make it stay back. That makes too much sense.

I suppose some goober would forget to "untwist" it to lock it in place after connecting it, and it would come loose while the cutter was running. Seems everything is designed these days for avoiding liability in this litigious society, so we get to buy products designed for the lowest common denominator.

Here is a link to it at Surplus Center. They call them both "sliding collar" style.

As I noted, I have all three types but, probably prefer the sliding collar with large flange. They all work IF you keep them clean and lubed.

I think the cover over the yokes is part of the issue as it makes it difficult to get your hands around the yoke. Another issue with me is the Delta Hook QA I have to work around. The Woods cutter has my least favorite type yoke.
