LD1 is very correct. No mixing tire diameters or be prepared to grind up your front gearbox and related parts.

Great point about the 4WD gearing, didn't even think about that. Hopefully I won't damage the R1s too quickly, as the tires on the Ford dry rotted long before wearing out (tractor came with the property). We'll see what happens.

LD1, I'm already planning on a Fit-Rite TNT, that's why I'm adding the rear remotes. Not quite confident enough in my welding abilities to attempt my own.

Do you guys keep a spare tire, at least a front one, around? Is this unheard of?

No spares. Why start with aged rubber?

Tires are easily available. You can buy spares from your Kubota dealer at reasonable prices, or any car oriented tire shop can order tractor tires. If you have the rear tires filled, you will probably want the Kubota dealer to install replacement tires.

No spares here either. But have changed and patched plenty of tires and tubes. I'd invest in a good set of spoons and a tire repair kit.

I'd also have the dealer install a third remote for future. Lot cheaper now than later from what I have heard. And if you ever upgrade to a box blade with hydraulic rippers, or a rear blade with hydraulic angle, or tow any transport equipment like a disc or something that has a hydraulic cylinder for wheels......an extra set is nice so you dont have to keep swapping around.

Woo hoo ! Finally arrived Wednesday of this week, after much ado about hydraulic valves. But, man, this is one heck of a tractor, coming off the 3.5 cylinder 8N! I knocked over a number of trees by accident! I am very impressed with the digging power of the loader, more than I thought it would be. The HST is also the best thing since sliced bread, although my knee was a bit sore after 5 hours of loader work. Rolled off the trailer with 193 hours. You can tell it sat outside, but I couldn't find any scratches or dents. If the cold doesn't chase me out of the shop this weekend, I'm going to check all loader bolts for good-n-tight and spend some time familiarizing myself more closely with the tractor.

Thanks for all of your help during this process!

Congrats! Put a real toothbar on that bucket if you plan on doing much "digging" with the FEL.

Congrats - we had ours for several years and it has been a great machine and done everything I have asked of it.

Thanks, working on the tooth bar & grapple end of things. Just got done welding bucket hooks on, a tough battle for my little welder in the cold :) "bigger the gob, better the job"
