Cabinfever,

My backblade is a fullsize 60" Kubota brand that I had worked into the deal when I bought my 2230. I use it only for snow removal, no dirt work yet. I have a box scraper ( KingKutter) that I use for for dirt work / grading duties.

The Kubota backblade is too big/tall for the 2230, but works great with the BX24. I have several inclines/slopes that I traverse on my property and have no problems with clearance.

The Woods is a great blade, but I would want to try the full size on my machine and then decide if the Estate model fit better.

One of the reasons I wanted to go with a more standard sized back blade (if it works) is due to weight. The Woods RBC60 only weighs 160 pounds. The King Kutter I bought today weighs 250 pounds. For snow removal, that doesn't matter as much (except the extra weight might help with traction in the rear), but for grading work I can see that extra weight helping alot. Besides, My FEL manual says that I should have 300 pounds of ballast in the rear to help balance the weight (bring the center of gravity back toward the center). I figure the 250 lb backblade and the extra weight of the liquid in the tires should be plenty to take care of ballast.

HELLO,
aLTHOUGH I PRIMARLY PLOW WITH A 73 FORD TRUCK[LOVE THE HEATER] , I bought the KUBOTA for pushing back the snowbanks. We normally get large amounts up here where i am.The tractor is definitly perfect for this task. How ever, when the truck was broke i plowed with the fel.Not that great with a large driveway, your always changing directions and pushing great amounts at once..If i were to do it on a reguler basis [cant afford a blower] id find an old 7 ft truck plow and mount it on the tractor, hooking up the angling hydraulics to the KUBOTA.If it wouldnt handle 7 ft id shorten it.If your a good fabricator, and have a large drive ,id find an old unit,id bet it would work slick.I guess you have already guessed where my plow unit is going when the truck gives out huh?and ill have one of those golf cart enclosures to go over my roofHA HA

Thinking about purchasing a 5 ' back blade. How do you guys mount this rubber mat I keep hearing about under the blade to keep it from scraping the driveway? Anyone have a picture of this set up? Thanks !!!

I really appreciate the timing on this thread as I just returned from TSC after looking at 5' blades. My primary question was/is can my BX2350 handle the regular cat I rear blade or was the XB blade the better option. Here in Central Indiana (@ TSC) the XB blade is actually a few dollars more expensive than the regular blade ($254). I bought my tractor primarily to maintain my business's 2.5 acre gravel lot and to move snow - I too wondered if the XB had enough 'umph' to bite into a well used gravel lot.

Thanks for answering my question; tomorrow I will buy the TSC regular cat I back blade.

I just bought the regular blade and it works fine for gravel. I don't think the XB would work nearly as well (Besides, we have a HUGE TSC here and they didn't have any XB blades in stock--although they carry the XB line because they did have several other kinds of XB implements).

I have searched the forums, but what specifically have the BX owners done for snow removal? I don't want to spend the extra cash on the plow right now, so I was thinking of mounting a blade to the front of my FEL bucket.

Also, I'm thinking the R4's will be a better choice then the turfs if I'm going to have only one set of tires? Agree?

Phil
I have a FEL and A 60'' Front Blade'

Why R4s over R1s ?

Anyone have an idea of what the Kubota front blade and mount go for? I can see where that would be nice but I suspect it would be out of my budget.
$1900 for blade and mount and everything.
I got a lucky break - Paid $1500 for it.

4* I sandwiched a piece of 1/2" conveyor belt between the wear bar and the blade on my quad so it wouldn't hurt my driveway. Thinking of doing the same on my next setup too.

6*selling simplicity broadmoor .
Phil
1*I've never used anything but the FEL on my BX23. Of course we've had little to Zero snow in the 3 years I've had it. Closer to 0. But we did get a 2 incher one year.
2*Keep the broadmoor and put a front blade on it. It would be much cheeper than a blade for the bx . Also for deeper snows you may find that you need a blade and the fel both. If you put a blade on the fel bucket where is the fel when you need it to move snow piles out of the way after you've created them with the blade?
3*That can be done but it puts extra strain on the loader.
4*Slit a piece of PVC pipe and slip it over the lip of the bucket then pull it back off after finishing the driveway
5*I prefer Bar Tires year round.
6*You may not want to do that if it's any good. You will probably find out that there will be places where you can't get into with the BX to mow.
Here is my SET up in addition to my BX23.
2003 BX1500 with front blade for getting into smaller places where the BX23 can't go. Also for snow removal assistance to the BX23 when/if needed.
The 2003 BX1500 also has a rear tiller on it for creating fine dirt for landscaping.
New BX1500 with 48'' MMM for mowing the tight spots the BX23 can't get into.
