2003 Kubota BX1800 and 2010 B3030
Tried asking a question regarding BX 1800 and it didn't seem to get added? Any suggestions? In the event that this one works, the question was: I am a new member of TBN....great forum by the way! I am curious as to why I don't find many items regarding my particular Kubota model. The BX 1800 I have is a 2003 model, so I half expected to find similar problems, suggestions, solutions, etc. that I've experienced, but really don't see much regarding it at all. Maybe I should just be happy????? Dyer, retired

Welcome,

My thought is that there is info here but you might not have found it yet. Try the search above next to the main index and type in your tractor. You should find lots of info.

If not start a new thread and people will answer you.

Remember,

The BX series is the same except the engine size. So the layout of the 1500, 1800 and 2200 were identical except engines. So posting a problem about for example a bad safety switch applies to all the models not just the 1800.

Thanks guys! Of course, the minute I sent the question, I tried a different search (still getting used to the forum) and got some pretty specific postings as to the why I don't see a lot about them. I agree, no news is good news and my experience has been very positive. Like everyone else, I always feel like I should have bought the next bigger version, but the BX 1800 does everything I want it to and keeps me out of most trouble. Tnx agn.

I would guess that one reason that you may not see much about the bx1800 in particular could be because there may not be as many of them in use as the other bx's. When I bought my bx 1500, I also looked at the other bx's, the 1800 and the 2300. As I recall, the only difference between the 1800 and 2300 was horsepower and a few hundred dollars. If the 1500 wasn't big enough (it was just right for me) it would seem to me that most buyers would opt to pay the modest extra amount to get the additional HP.

I was of he same mind when I looked at 1800...everything else looked like it was too big, or too small and the snowblower attachment BX2750 on the front was the feature I was really looking for at the time, it was in the showroom, and by the end of the day in my dooryard. I had some minor hydraulic fluid leaks that drove me nuts, but easily fixed with a little thread sealer. I immediately upon delivery broke one of the amber flashers off (sounds like a pretty common practice) and had to learn some simple features that I now can't understand how I ever lived without. I had some neck surgery a few weeks back and have not been able to operate the tractor for awhile, was stumbling around looking for a replacement battery and came across TBN. I've found more interesting reading, ideas, projects, suggestions, and was also just a little glad to see that I was not the only one making some of my mistakes originally. I just recently learned a good lesson with a rear blade, but nothing that cost much for repair, so if I can just keep the ongoing mistakes to those minor things, I'll be very happy. Thanks for the reply! Dyer, retired

While I'm recuperating from surgery, my neighbor has been coming down and clearing the yard for me using my tractor, which of course he now wants one for himself. We have a dealer in the area that is very responsive too, so that helped sell me on it. I went from 9 h.p. John Deere lawn mowers to the BX 1800, so initially I felt like I was into some heavy construction equipment. I do an awful lot more with the blade than I would have anticipated and keep the dirt driveway and ditches cleared nicely during the summer. We've spent every other day this winter clearing snow, so the blower is a great attachment for me here. Weatherman said we are 190 inches of snowfall over this time last year. I'm ready for he lawn mowing season. Tnx. Dyer, retired

I know what you mean.
Right after I got the 2 BX1500s last Nov. the wether got bad so I only got to put about 10 hours on each of them befor putting them up for the winter .
Got a long list of chores for all 3 tractors when the weather breaks.
It's been a loooong winter.

I bought a used BX-1500 this fall in anticipation of snow for my 200 ft driveway. Had 400 hours on it a 2004. After I changed out 4 hydraulic hose's and all of the fluids it runs like a top. Of course we didn't get any bad storms had one small 3-inch snowfall. Strange winter around here. Hmmm.. Guess I could have waited who knew? So far the 1500 has been one rugged little machine. Got to get used to the smell of diesel in the garage. I have a lot of landscaping plans for it this summer. I would also like to see a count of how many 1500 /1800 owners we have here. Now Mr. L-Brown your only allowed to count as one...:D

Barryh,

I went through the buyers remorse when I bought the 1800, thinking that I'd gone with way too much machine for what I needed. The 1500 would have easily done everything that I'm doing with my rig, but they had the 1800 completely outfitted and on the showroom floor the day I walked in with everything that I was looking for, so that decided the difference. I end up using that thing for more jobs than I could have imagined and haven't regretted (beyond that initial feeling) a minute of owning the Kubota. I scrape the driveway with the blade in the summer, keep up the ditches to the point that the neighbors like to mention it, pull dead trees out to where I can cut them, drive it from the garage to the mailbox, on and on. Winter is spent either plowing or blowing snow and that's just fun....as you know. We've had a winter here that is getting close to the balancing point of it not being so fun anymore, but that has more to do with constantly shoveling the rear decks, roofs, entryways, etc. I also like to do the maintenance on it and adding modifications that I see as necessary.

As you've read, I just came across this forum a few weeks ago and find just about everything on here to be interesting, funny, inventive, helpful, etc. I'm finding that I'm putting too much thought into the blade/lower arm breakage question, but that's been a good defense against the cabin fever until I can get back to working on the tractor again. Thanks for the note. Dyer, retired

Sounds like your having way to much fun with that little tractor ;) I know I love mine. It must be pretty around there with all of that snow. Have you posted pictures of the little Bota doing snow duty? Did I miss it?

Barry,

I do have a lot of fun with the Kubota and will try to post a couple of pictures. I am very new to TBN, so I'm learning how to attach pictures slowly. The picture under the name tag is me in my 40 year old Refridgewear outfit, goggles, scarf, etc. blowing snow a couple of years back. That picture ended up on a local Calendar and the neighbors think the suit is pretty funny. It took me a day to find out that I needed to downsize the file size for that picture to post it and, so it might take me a little more study to send more. The Doctor told me yesterday that I could start getting in some moderate activity post neck surgery, but then specifically outlined not tractor bouncing around for another few weeks. Murphy's Law dictates what will happen if I don't follow his orders, so I'll stay busy reading and enjoying the TBN stuff. Thanks for the note. Dyer, retired

Barry,

I'll try this attachment for size. I had to open it and then reduce the file size to meet the TBN size limits, so here goes. Just a shot of the blower at work with the blade in back ready for a separate pass. Dyer, retired

Mr. Dyer I believe the size limit your talking about is for your avatar. If you go to manage attachments below and just upload a picture off of your computer, it should come out much larger in the 200.0 KB range. Lets see here would be a couple of my BX-1500 one in the back 40. ;) Thats one nice snow blower setup you have there.:)

Barry, Great pictures... I like the work cage, lights, the whole unit. I uploaded the original picture and it wouldn't accept it due to file size, so I went to another program and dropped the size down too much, so it came up blurry when posted. Part of the problem with a couple of the pictures too is that my wife was taking pictures through a sliding door with a screen on the outside, so if you look closely you can tell that part of the distortion is the screen. I will keep trying. Thanks, John

Barry, I'm trying to attach a shot from when I originally bought the tractor to see if it comes out a little better. The trash can on the back was filled with road dirt/sand to throw on the yard during icy parts of Winter thaw and add some weight to the rear. I had about 120 pounds on board. That's of course gone now and the rear blade stays on through the winter for ballast and function. Let's see if the picture came out any better here. John

Barry,

I appreciate you being the test recipient of these pictures for feedback. This is another older picture showing the infamous snow suit the neighbors make fun of. It also shows the lights installed, like everyone apparently found out when they got theirs, were needed to see when operating the blower. The blade isn't as evident in the picture on the back and, for some reason, this may be the only picture I have that doesn't show the snow being blown in one direction, but ultimately...no matter what, coming right back into my face. John
