hey all,
just did the 50 hr last nite. she was right at 49.9 hrs. it was a pain in the butt. maybe it was just me. the things i learned that ill share with new owners.
i had to take off the side and front covers to get at the oil filter. if i had a socket type filter wrench, i wouldnt of had to. the engine took 3 quarts with new filter to be full. that was the easy part. as far as the trans, this was the hemoriod. my drain pan wouldnt fit between the rear tires. i had to jack up and remove the trans strainer side tire. drained the oil and got the filter replaced. then i removed the strainer and only had a few shavings but had to move my blocks to get it out. when adding the new super udt fluid i had to cut a 14inch piece of garden hose for my funnel and i used the top link snap bracket to hold the hose. this worked great. it took all 3 gallons. and also buy the fliud in 1 gallon containers. it is easier to pour. when pouring , pour the container sideways and it wont drip. other than that everything was fine. the things ill change for the next service:
1. get a socket type filter wrench for the engine.
2. get an skinnier drain pan.
3. keep my garden hose funnel extension
have fun, hope this helps

Nice preview! That's good stuff. It's always so much easier to do something like this once the kinks are worked out.
Skinny drain pan, who'd of thought.

Makes ya wonder if the few extra bucks saved by do'n it yourself are worth it. My 50-hour is coming up and I think I'll run "Nehi" down to my dealer. I got plenty of other projects to work on while she's away

Having trouble getting oil filter off. Where can you get something to remove it and what is it called?

There are a lot of different types of oil filter wrenches, and I think I've tried all of them at one time or another and the best I've found is usually called a "three legged oil filter wrench" or a "ratcheting oil filter wrench". Lots of auto parts stores, tool dealers, etc. have them. You can look at item #154078 at http://www.northerntool.com for a picture of one.
