Wow! Great thread. This is all very helpfull.

Two questions come to mind.
1. Are any of the premixed fluids the right type?
2. Do I rinse the block with regular water, or do I use distilled for that too?

Thanks!

I used regular water from the hose.

As far as the correct type of fluid, perhaps others can make suggestions. I am open for suggestions.:D

No need to remove the cap to check, because you should only be checking at the coolant recovery tank. Once you fill and start the engine, and the engine gets warm, it will take a few cycles for all the air to be removed from the system. When you open the cap, you introduce air into the system, delaying the process.
Put light air pressure to the system using a rag and air hose at the top of the radiator. No more than a few pounds of air is needed to push the water out. If you have to drain the heater, disconnect it at the top radiator hose connection and blow it out there.
