Snow BX FEL snow plow

JJPP,
I went with the 60" and am happy with it. I have had to back up and take a smaller amount of snow when the blade is full of heavy snow because the tires start to spin (turfs). With a 72" blade I'd have to stop sooner. I make the first pass down my driveway to the road with the blade straight so the town can have some of my snow! This is when I have trouble if the snow is deep. I would definately get a blade with springs on it as they absorb some of the shock if you hit something frozen. Check your area ATV dealers to see if you can find a used setup, which is how I got my push tube. You could also try Ebay.

Ace3,
Thats a Classic Deluxe Driveable Golf Cart Cover (Item# 450502 $84.99) from Northern Tool that NY Yankee Fan told me about! I have a metal frame clamped to the FEL posts which in turn has a piece of plywood bolted to the top of it. The plywood goes from the frame in the front to the back of the Kubota canopy. The cover fits over it. I'll take some pictures if you would like to see the frame mounting. Let me know.

i agree, you need the trip springs, jjpp. they are kinda like a shearbolt on the snow blower - they keep expensive things from breaking.

most of the spring mounts have some type of tension adjustment so you have a little control over how much force it takes to flip the blade down. much better to loose a blade full of snow than jar the crap out of yourself and the tractor and possibly shear off something important sticking out the ground.

Thanks for you input this will most likly be a summer project. I am thinking of checking with atv dealers in the spring to see if I can find a deal. I don't mind paying for the blade I just hate to pay full price for a push tube and then cut half of it off.

Radioman,

I went and dug out the truck plow from under the snow figured it might give you some ideas. There is a mount that broke off and the angle iron twisted, hence why Im looking for other options due to the weight of this plow.

Here is some pictures of the plow and mount, this pins on to the FEL arms and the center cylinder is unhooked and moved to that upper mount.

thanks for the pics. you have given me some ideas

I finally got around to hooking up a old meyers plow (i think its meyers, could be western). I tried to think of a way to use the a frame as is so i can angle it but no dice. I would have to do some fabbing to make it work . For now i took the a frame off and hooked the fel arms directly to the plow. It works pretty good, but the float position is at the wrong height. I have to "read" the ground while i am plowing- just to be careful not to scalp the lawn. the plow is pretty light, i would say its a tad lighter then the bucket. the majority of the wieght comes form the A frame of the plow and that has been removed. This summer, I hope to find the time to fab up the a frame to adapt to the fel arms so i can be angled. I'm including the pics here to show how it was hooked up. :)

With no trip springs I wouldn't want to use that plow. You have it set up more like a dozer blade

yeah - that's the reason why it will be my new summer project this summer to put a frame back with trip springs. IF you saw the condition it was when i first got it , you would agree that it would be the quickest way. previously i had a poor mans wooden snow pusher built and it was showing the wear very quickly on the bottom. here the pics of what i wass using before and what i got now was a huge improvement for snow clearing. I rather patch a couple spots this spring in the lawn then to keep using the wooden snow pusher. sorry about all the snow in pics.

Picked one up 60" blade and quick hitch w/shoes used but maybe only once for $1200. It looks and works just like new. Had to pick up a few missing top bolts for the quick hitch and I picked up a set of color hose covers and took off all the yellow ones, total in parts $30 more.

Well I bought a 60" atv plow and push tube. I got the setup for $350 I am just waiting for delivery and the fab work will begin.

That's a good price JJPP! I think you will be happy with it. Post a photo when you get it done.
