Snow BX FEL snow plow

/ BX FEL snow plow #41
Heres what I made up for my BX 1500. Just a quick job before the snow came one weekend. Works really really good. Just slide the bucket into the mount there, and hook the chain up to the top of the bucket.

It would work a bit better if I had a chain binder on the chain, because there is some slop. I made the angle iron right up tight to the inside of the bucket because since there is only one chain in the center, the frame shucks side to side sometimes, so the angle iron helps stop it. Made some mounts for the snowplow shoes.

Yes I know, its not beautiful, and if you have seen some of my other stuff I've built they look the same way, but I am only 19 with little money, and I use all scrap steel.

Plows snow like nothing!!

Oh yeah and its great because you can just simply take it off real quick when you need the bucket for something. Also since the plow is so far up ahead you can easily push tops of snow banks back and work your way down

Thank you very much!:) And yes, I will have to get some paint on it. I think it would really make it look much better.

Also does anyone know where I can get a hydraulic cylinder so that I can angle my plow from the seat? I want to do something like RobertCramer did. I will keep my set up, just detach the tilt cylinder and weld a hook on the FEL cross piece like he did, and put a chain there and to the bucket. I found a "tie rod cylinder" here. Bailey Hydraulic Cylinders Manufacturer

I need the stroke to be long enough so that I can angle the plow all the way from one side to the other. I will just simply get hydraulic lines that go up to the control valve where the tilt output lines are. That way I will have my left and right.

This cylinder at bailey net seems like a pretty good price. I dont want to spend any more than that. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper? Like RobertCramer's? I dont need anything heavy duty really...

I think the cylinder you are looking at might be the right size, I am not sure. It looks like a 8 inch stroker. DO you still have the single acting rods that came with the plow ?

No, I dont have the cylinders that came with the plow. The plow actually came off of a Wheel Horse and it had some hand held type angle thing that I couldnt use. Yeah probably 8 inch stroke would be fine right? Should be plenty, just depends on how and where I mount it.

I did try looking at Northern Hydraulics a few weeks ago, but seemed like everything was up near the $100 range.

what if you add length to your hoses to your top cyclinder and use that as your tilt? use a solid steel pipe welded to look like a " I " and put that in place of where the top cyclinder mounts to the bucket. more cyclinder to you plow and you got left and right angle. how often do you need to dump the snow plow anyways?
