Snow BX FEL snow plow

I adapted an ATV plow to my BX2200. The cost was under $300 and it works great. It would be nice to make it a power angle so I wouldn't have to get out to change it but the price is right so I can't complain! Most of the time I put the loader in the float position and have a plastic edge so the driveway doesn't get marked up.

Hey 149owner where did you find a plow for that price? I was planning on doing something like that for next year and have been pricing them. I am guessing that you used a 72" blade, I can find a blade for around $300 but that is without the mount. This seems to be the best solution for a blade and still be able to quickly change to using the loader. I am going to build one I am just looking for the best prices and options.

Hi JJPP, The plow I have is a Cycle Country 60" Work Power Straight Plow MSRP: $262.37. I got a used push tube but the new price is MSRP: $250.34. These are current website prices but I bought mine a couple of years ago.
I ended up cutting most of the push tube off and welded a 2" sq tubing to the remaining section so that when the blade is angled there is only an inch between it and the bucket. A friend of mine kept the full length push tube and made brackets to bolt it to the bucket in four places. It stuck out about 3' in front of the bucket and was hard for him to manuver! Trying to push heavy snow with the plow angled also was a problem because it would tend to push the tractor sideways. 2"X4" plates are welded to the ends of the tubing and two pieces of 2" angle iron are welded to the bucket. The 2" tubing going to the top of the bucket also has a piece of 2" angle iron welded to it. I left a gap between the top of the bucket and the angle iron so that the plow could float a little since my driveway has a rise in it near the street. The idea was to let the plow float but I could still curl the bucket forward to lock the plow and get more down pressure when needed. I found by curling the bucket forward to lock the plow in place and putting the FEL in the float position gives the same results. I would still leave a gap so that it is easier to position the plow when installing or removing it, which only takes a minute or two to remove the two clips and pins.

i like this last setup! i have an old sears garden tractor snow plow which i have been wanting to adapt to the front of the bx. as many agree, i don't want to have to be without the FEL. i wish there was enough clearance i could get the plow mounted to the frame and still operate the FEL ;-(

i think a quick mount like this is maybe a good compromise. in other plow threads over the years, the biggest complaint is that the frame mounted plow does a much better job at distributing the forces directly to the tractor frame and gives better steerability. the FEL mounted plow routes the forces much higher onto the tractor where the FEL arms attach causing the front wheels to raise easier with quicker loss of steering in the deep snow.

left and right rear braking would help solve this problem, but not available on the bX. so, we have to work with what kubota gave us! i think a well designed quick attache to either the front frame or the FEL would be pretty good options.

I am too, wondering on how yours is setup. I have a old truck plow i pciked up for free and i want to adapt it to the fel arms as well. the plow is not too heavy- i beleive its nearly the same wieght as the bucket. I saw someone else make a post recently on how he adapted it to his fel arms but it wasnt a BX. I am still pondering my options.

Just fabricate a frame using the same dimensions as the bucket mounts and you can attach almost any plow frame.

Thanks 149owner for the info I was thinking of going with a 72" plow and fabricating my own mounting system. I'm just looking for your input do you think that I need to use the trip springs? I was just thinking of a solid mount system kind of like a rear blade. I'm just trying to not have to buy a push tube and then hack and modify it.
Thanks, Jason
