Yesterday my BX1500 (99hrs now) cut out several times after running for about an hour cutting the lawn. It wasn't that it "missed" on one cylinder, the engine would just die for a fraction of a second then continue.

I had just got some fuel from the local station before i started to cut the . I filled up the tractor after about 20mins of cutting, so the tank was near full. If it was bad fuel i would expect it to cause trouble very soon after filling up and it be a continous problem.. if it was a dirty filter, i'd expect the same thing.

It just dies for a fraction of a second, then continues to run again for a few mins before it does it again. I'm thinking an intermittent electical connection to the fuel supply.

Is there a fuel solenoid or has anyone else had a simliar problem?

I know if I take it to the Dealer, it will jsut run like a charm being an intermittent problem.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

You might take a look at the under-the-seat cut out switch, the one that kills the engine if you get up. It is mounted on a fairly thin bracket, and can easily be misaligned so that even if you just bounce a bit rather than coming clear off the seat, the engine will shut off. It's easy to test, just raise it up very slightly and if the engine dies it is too sensitive. Doesn't need to have a hair trigger setting. I like mine to only work if I get clear off the seat, otherwise every time I go over a small bump the engine cuts out.

Thanks I'll check that, although I had my seat belt on so i wasn't bouncing much.. and the springs that lifted the seat the activate it was the first thing I ditched when I got the machine. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A while back on my B2910, I had a similar problem

The engine would work hard, then almost die and barely run at all, the start working again.

I was about to send it bad to the dealer for a check, but decided to change the fuel filter first. It was a blocked fuel filter that was the problem.

It is amazing how back the tractor would run, and then how well it would run at other times, all due to a fuel filter problem.

Don't write off the possibility that you got some bad fuel, with dirt or whatever in it that started to block the fuel filter. In my case the filter was so cruddy that I could not blow through it, but the tractor still ran good part of the time...

For what it is worth, don't know if this applies to your situation or not...
