BX1850 or BX2350 for slopes

Keith,
Where did you get those weights and were they expensive. I would like a set to offset the loader without having to have anything on the 3pt (would fit easier in the garage.) My concrete ballast in handy because I am cheap.:D

Just called my dealership. They are just a simple, no-name, 12" bolt-on wheel weight. Each one weighs a little more than 70 lbs, according to them. They are $150 for the set (two) from my particular dealership.

For heavy stuff, I put on the BB. For your normal stuff (take out the trash, move piles of mulch, lift yard junk, shuttle things to the basement well, etc.) the wheel weights work great. I took them off for about a month in the middle of the summer and hated it. Light in the rear with stuff in the loader and more "bouncy" or "pogo-ey" if you get my drift. Basically, the COG seemed to 'teeter' on the front wheels much more without the wheel weights than with.

In answer to the question about liquid filled tires:
I wouldn't have it any other way!
The added weight is lower than even wheel weights. Stability on slopes is noticeably improved. Traction is enhanced. It's cheap. Use a garden sprayer with an air chuck adapted to the hose to fill with any chemical you'd like whether it be windshield washer fluid or Calcium Chloride solution. In warm areas use water form the garden hose. Again just adapt an air chuck and shoot it in. I've filled even my lawnmower tires for years. I can't find a down side.

1. For mowing small acreage (2/3 or so) on hills with trees, which is more stable, if there is a difference-- 1850 or 2350. Which if any has a tighter turning radius?
2*The GR2100, from what I've read here seems to be unproven as far as reliability goes, so I'm looking at the 1850 or 2350. Thanks in advance!
1*I use a CC GT2554 on slopes where I won't take my BX23 which is the same basic tractor as the 2350.
The Smaller CC 2554 feels a lot less tippy on those slopes.
I am getting rid of the CC 2554 and replacing it with a new BX1500 for mowing those slopes.
The deminsions of the BX 1500 are closer to the size of the CC 2554 than they are to the BX23.
2*The GR and G kubota Garden tractors are almost as big as the BX 1500 S-Cut.
I've had 2 Kubota dealers tell me the Gr And G garden tractors aren't worth the money because the BX1500 and and BX1850 S=compact tractors are a whole more tractor with more features for about the same or less money.
MY local dealer doesen't stock the G and GR Garden tractors because of this.

I doubt it would make any difference. The 1800 series used to be the exact same frame and wheel base as the larger 22 series, just with the smaller motor.
I know there is a big difference between the feel of stability between my bx23 and the CC gt2554 on some slopes.
The Smaller CC feels less tippy than the BX23 .
I wanted to replace the CC with a tractor that had 4x4 & PS Hyd lift and a diesel motor so I'm buying a new bx1500 instead of a BX2350 because it is closer in size to the smaller CC than it is to the larger BX23 or BX2350.

I agree. However if 4wd is a requirement, the only other option I see is going to a Deere X585 and for the money I would rather have the 3pt hitch for the snowblower (and any other toys he might have) that comes with the bota.
Then I'd Take A bx1500 BX1830 or BX1850 over a Deer X540 or X 700!

I have a BX1500, which has similar
*dimensions and tire size to the BX1850. The slightly smaller tires (24 vs 26 in) should give the BX1850 some marginal slope stability advantage vs the BX2350. The BX1850 also has a 2.5 inch smaller wheelbase so turning diameter is a little better I think too.

**Slopes on my 2 acres are steep but I've never measured them. I got the BX1500 for its 4 wheel braking. The rear wheel only brakes on my JD rider would often lose some traction going down the slope if the grass was even a little wet. No problems with the BX1500 going up or down mowing with my 54 inch deck. 1850 would work.
*The BX1500 dimiensions are fairly close to those of my CC GT2554 garden tractor and closer to it than my BX23.
My CC gt2554 is very stable on the slopes i mow on with it.
**Woud you say a bx 1500 is:
as stable
more stable
less stable
or about the the same
as A CC GT2554 garden tractor?

That makes sense. I know it is rare, but I almost think the 48" deck on the 1850 would provide a better cut on my yard than the 54". Do you have fluid in the rear tires of your BX1500?
I don't plan on fluid filled tires for the New BX 1500 i'm getting just to mow with.
The 4 wheel drive ought to be plenty of traction with it.
No filled tires on the used BX1500 either. The front blade and rear tiller I'm leaving on it should be all the extra weight and counter balance I need.

I know you haven't mentioned the BX1500, but given your needs, it might be an economical solution. I sounds like you need a good lawn mower and snow removal machine that will save your back.

I don't think that Kubota G series garden tractors have 4wd, but they are heavy (900lbs).
They don't come with 3 point hitch and rear PTO either but they cost almost as much or more than the heavier duty better built sub compacts.

texblonigan, it's a small world. I'm also in Minnesota and considering the same two machines.
*I have a B3030 that is too big to use for mowing due to all the oaks & other trees on my lot.
2*I Use a Cub Cadet GT2542 for mowing right now but I'm not impressed with the traction on the slopes.
Have to agree with Volfandt that with a hilly driveway, 4wd would serve you better for snow removal.
3* I'm leaning toward the BX1850 because it's available with a smaller 48" MMM.
4*Good luck and let us know you're decision.
1*My BX 23 which is the same size as the BX2350 is to large for mowing some spots
2*so I use a CC GT2554 for mowing them.
Traction is fine with the CC but I wanted PS Hyd lift 3 point hitch and rear PTO so I just ordered a new BX1500 to replace the CC with.
The 4WD is just icing on the cake!
3*I went with a BX1500 because it's closer to the CC than the BX23 in size.
4*Have you decided on anything yet?
