BX22/23/24 Owners...Regrets?

Can I chime in with a regret about NOT getting a BX24? I bought a BX 2230. Love it. I didn't think I'd have much use for the BH, which is why I didn't get the BX23/24. Well, that was before I decided that the buckthorn on my property was killing off half of the other trees in my 3 acres of woods. Now that I've been chopping and hauling dozens of trees down to the firepit, I've got dozens of stumps to dig out. Mind you, most are 4" in diameter or less, but the job of stump removal would still be much easier with a backhoe. In fact, without one, I will likely leave most of the stumps in the ground for now--but they look very unsightly along my paths because the chemical I've sprayed them with (Brush B Gone) is creating a white oozy film--yuck.

You can always add the Woods Groundbreaker X BH6000 back hoe. I'm sure you have seen the recent posts from a few of us who just got one. They work quite well and are very similar to the Kubota hoe, which you can't actually get as an after thought.

I may have one of the longer BX22/3/4 tenures...bought mine in Aug02. Probably one of the first owners in SOCAL. I know they had to truck it in from fresno cause there weren't any locally.

No regrets at all. The BX22 is the perfect fit for my use, maintaining a horse arena, stalls, installing draining system, excavating foundation/piers for detached 1000sqft garage...with an 8ft door to let the tractor in without adjusting the ROPs. Because of its size I'm able to get into my back yard where no other tractor can go because of the block wall. Hydraulic power has saved my back immeasurable stress.

My neighbor owns a commercial Deere backhoe (310B) but is always borrowing mine for close-in work around his house.

Try pushing the trees over by hitting it about 3 or 4 feet up with FEL blade angled slightly upward so that it digs into the tree and transfers weight onto the tractor for traction. This often levers out the root ball /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't have my FEL attached during mowing season, but I'll give that a try in the fall, when I put the FEL back on to grade some paths and get ready for snow.
