It was the female connector. The dealer replaced it in a few minutes. He said he has never seen this problem before on the BX22 must have just been some bad parts. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Great! Glad you got it fixed! I also have a small issue with the PTO control lever; it seems to fit too tightly in the plastic shroud (guide) which is cutting into the soft clear rubber piece below the yellow knob that keeps the lever from rattling. The tech said the rubber piece goes over time because the plastic stops on the guide are somewhat sharp....

i am wondering what type of or amount of work youhad to justify the additional cost of the backhoe? have you used the BH enough to warrant the cost?

I only have 25 hrs on the BX22 and probably 18 of that with the backhoe. I am presently clearing a heavily wooded area that is about an acre and removing all the stumps with the backhoe so I can store boat/utility trailer's. The backhoe has been a great asset.

I have about 25 hours on mine too. About 10 maybe with the hoe. I have used the hoe to dig out some "antique" stumps and countless rocks that I always had to steer around with the old garden tractor. I have also used the hoe to reshape the banks on my neighbor's stream and put in a dozen or so pine trees. Its second benefit is to provide counterweight to the loader which makes the tractor VERY stable when carrying heavy loads up front. Without it, the tractor will lift a rear wheel off the ground necessitating 4WD.

I have around 65 hours on my BX22. Most of that is from mowing but I do use the backhoe a lot as well. I've planted numerous 25 gal bradford pears, pine trees, dug up some rocks, pushed over some small trees, dug the two large islands out of my pond and now I'm using it to make a new driveway. I'm breaking up the high areas with the backhoe and just scooping out the loose material with the FEL. One funny note. When at Lowes, buying the 25 gal bradford pears, I was paying for them when a guy that works there was laughing about how I will be digging holes for weeks. I said not with the backhoe on my 'Bota I think he was a little taken back......

Just a note on a "steering issue" I found today... Check the bolts on the two brackets that hold the power steering cylinder to the front axle. One is on the left side of the piston, one is on the right side. They are circular, the piston goes through them and they bolt to the front axle with two bolts each. The driver's side on mine was ready to fall off the tractor; the other was OK but not very tight. In another week the bracket would have come off and probably damaged the piston or the other bracket.

Something to be said about going over every bolt with a wrench....

I noticed that hydraulic connection for the BH is tight, has anyone lengthened theirs for an easier coupling?

I didn't lengthen, but I found that there was actually a little more slack on the BH itself...once I gave those a bit of a tug, hookup is much easier. I don't think it would be all that great of an idea to actually lengthen these too much as they might be more succeptable to getting "caught where they shouldn't be" either during the on/off process or during use. But that's only the personal opinion of a relatively rookie tractor jockey!

Just reached the 50 hr mark and really enjoy the tractor. Called the dealer to set an appointment for a 50 hr. Maintenance and he quoted me $250.00. I am in Misouri and will all of this maintenance have to be done every 50 hrs? Who has done this without the dealer and how much was the cost? Thanks.
