when in doubt, go with the bigger tractor. u won't be sorry.

Since the BX has the same engine used in the B1700 I guess those wear out more quickly too and that an L sereis will last more hours than a 7500 and so on--nah--your dealer wanted a bigger profit margin or is continuing to be misinformed--either way he is wrong.
Ground clearence with the BX in most cases is a non issue--it has more effective clrearence than you think. The 7500 has a ground contact mower if that is a concern instead of the easily adjusted and superior suspended deck of the BX.

I'm looking at both also. Not sure how much the ground clearance issue will be but I like the idea of a lower
center of gravity on the BX. Since mowing will be where the most hours for me will be logged I'm also shying
away from the 7500 because it doesn't have the supended mower. Does the 7500 have the same size constraints
with the 3pt that the BX does? I've heard the BX is category 1 3pt but just barely and hooking up to "standard"
category 1 3pt impliments will be a tight squeeze. Am I missinformed about this point or could it be a non-issue?

Thanks,
Michael

The 7500 is a fine tractor, and a larger frame than the BX, but it also comes with a higher center of gravity and a larger turning radius. As far as the 3pt, the lift arms are longer, and higher-placed due to the larger frame. This gives a bit more flexibility on certain 3pt attachments, such as post-hole augers and backhoes. I have the BX and haven't had any problems whatsoever with a standard Rotatiller (Howard HR3), box blade (Woods GB48) and 6' rear snowblade (yea, i know, larger than it should be, but works fine for what i use it for). Consider the 7500 if using the larger 3pts or if your'e going to be driving over downed trees, etc, but as far as normal stuff, the BX does fine.

The 7500 does have more 3 pt lift capacity than the BX but I have not found any problems with the "fitting" of Cat 1 implements to my BX. It is possible (I think I read it here on TBN) that the early production releases had different shaped lift arms. Anthing you would buy new would have the modified arms as well as other mods. (grease fitting on hydro pedal, new design fuel tank..)
I have an opinion for what I think is perceived to be a "problem" with the BX 3 pt. Here goes. Most buyers of the BX are first time tractor owners (with 3 pt anyway) and it does take a little getting used to attaching/detaching implements. The inexperience (me being one of them) of using the 3 pt, the weight of the attachments and, to some degree, the stiffness of new arms, ball sockets, etc. can make it very frustrating. Where you detach (level, hard ground) makes a world of difference when reattaching (true with the FEL too) implements. Loosening the "check chains" (actually more like turnbuckles) also makes it much easier to spread the arms to fit all Cat 1 implements I have. I have also replaced the cotter pins on the check chains with removable pins and most of the time I don't even need to adjust them after attaching other implements.
As an owner of a BX I know my opinion may seemed biased. I am only trying to give objective info from what I know to be true about the BX.

LJT -

I'm in the Chaska area. The dealer I went through is Lano's in Shakopee. Great experience so far. I dealt with Kurt Lano and he personally delivered the tractor and followed up a month after the purchase to see how everything was going. So far so good in my dealer experience. I think if you research some of the threads here, 12.5K for what I got is right around the average of what you should expect. Good Luck!

I agree with your basic premise about BX owners often being first time tractor owners -- but ground clearance can be a problem with the BX. I have a potato plow that juuuusssst clears the ground when raised to full height -- and when I drive across the lawn any little bumps will cause the tip of the plow to grab a divot.

On the flip side, with the lower center of gravity and the 4wd, I feel safe and secure mowing some banks that used to be high on the "pucker factor" with my old garden tractor. The BX is a very stable machine.

Decisions ... decisions. It's never easy.

When I decided I wanted to leave my 27hp Ford NH on a piece of property 100mi away, I was at the same point you were, I was trying to decide on maybe a 7500 or maybe a 2710 to replace the Ford.

I went instead with a BX and an L35. Where I live I have 10 acres also, half old forest and half stumps and "new" forest. For mowing on any kind of slope the BX wins hands down. For manuervability, easy of on-off on-off on-off the BX wins again. However if I had to have one tractor I'd have to go B2410 as the low height of the BX makes it unworkable over stumps, brush as much of my place is so rough (You'd think if I stopped blabbing on this board I'd be able to get it done!) If I had a B2410 and had to mow with it also I'd miss the BX terribly as it is so stable. Although the wife is careful (I hope) she still hasn't had a tractor up on two wheels so the BX is far safer for her.

Having the bx and a rear boom to hold up rail road ties in their holes while I fill in with the L35 is so slick and easy on the back. Having the tight turning BX to rake all over the place after I get "done" with the L35 is really nice.

Oh, and the most important aspect...? The BX is cute as hell. Almost everybody that sees it says "Is that 4WD?" Even people that seemingly have no use for a tractor!

Checked out one dealer friday that had 3 BX's (2-2200's and
1-1800) and no other B's. When I inquired about 7500HST or
2710 he said he didn't bother stocking them any more since
he sells the BX's mostly. He did have L's and up though.

Drove farther to another dealer saturday and they sold their
last BX (more were comming in) and they had L's and up.

I'll have to look farther to actually see all three together
I guess. Maybe a trek to Lano's in MN is in order ;-) Do
they deliver out of state...

Thanks for the 3pt info. Dealer said only 3pt impliments
that could have the pins reversed (read turned in) would
work on the BX. For the box or blade that shouldn't be
a problem but I like the option to buy "generic" 3pt tools
and not have to buy kubota specifically. ie. woods box
scraper
