BX2200 or B7500HST

Since it would be getting the most hours mowing the smaller
turing radius and lower center of gravity would be a plus.
I could probably work around the limited 3pt uses. I've
been told the BX mower deck is suspended where the 7500's
deck rolls on the ground all the time. Not sure how much
of an issue that would be but the suspended may cut down
on some scalping.

Thanks,
Michael

LTJ,
I went with the B7500 Because of the ground clearance, TheBX2200 is a really nice looking machine and I dont think you could do wrong by either of them. I am no expert by a long shot unless its on the old Iron.

I can tell you the 60" MMM is an awesome mowing machine. The deck does roll on the ground but is attacted to the mower (you gotta have it attatched to life it up).
You'll scalp because of the WIDTH of the mowing area and the uneven ground and a suspended deck will scalp the same places (the deck can't bend up in the middle or to one side only).
I mow a lot of grass and with my Kubota 60" MMM B7500 lawn mower (love calling it that) and the terrain covers all terrain types to rolling/small hills/low spots etc.

I hate to disagree with your dealer, but I have all third party manufactured equipment, a Howard tiller, a Woods Box blade and a Worksaver rear blade, all with the pins turned out. I have no problem hooking them up whatsoever! Perhaps it would be necessary to turn pins in if the manufacturer of the equipment didn't follow standard Cat 1 dimensions, but my stuff all works just fine. The limitations come into play with heavy or large implements that require more ground clearance.

I would suggest that your dealer become a bit more educated by trying out some of this stuff before making comments like that, it might save himself some embarrasment later. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

RE: 3pt pins having to be reversed for the BX

I believe this was the case on the first models, but the cat 1 hitch has since been redesigned with a wider spread. The dealer may be slightly out of date.

Please explain yourself again, before I rebut your slam of the BX mower.

I won't claim to answer for the boman but I have a little mound that I mow over and it's "diameter" is narrower than the width of the mower. Because of this the mower wheels do not contact the ground before the knob of the mound contacts a blade. After the first time I did this I just attacked the mound at a different angle. Either that or sooner or later the mound would be shaved to a height that scalping wouldn't be an issue.

A little hard on the blades though.....................

I think that's one of the fundamental rules of straight lines and curvy ones - all mower decks will scalp in some situations.

The advantage of the BX deck is that the weight (should be) carried by the four wheels of the tractor itself. On the 7500 the deck has ground-contact wheels that the deck is supported by and rolls along on.

I've never managed to get this working perfectly - but that's the theory!

Patrick

P.S. As always open for correction!

Fuzz did a good job. Suspended rides with the frame of the tractor, others roll on the wheels to cut but if you have a hump between the tractor tires the suspended deck may scalp, a MMM will scalp too. A 20" push mower will cut better than 60" anything.

The 7500 deck according to Kubota literature is a lighter guage steel than than that of the BX--9.5 guage vs 9 guage. The 7500 ground contact deck rides on wheels that in the case of the one I demoed dug ruts and chattered. It is unfortunate that a suspended deck is not available for the 7500. I think JD offers such decks for their tractors-could be wrong. Maybe an aftermarket supplier. The BX deck height can be adjusted from the seat and then the anti-scalp wheels set at a generic height so several cutting heights can be employeed without leaving the seat. J
