BX2200 vs B7500

   / BX2200 vs B7500 #31
I own a JD 4100, and I also looked at the BX2200, and the B7500. Faced with the choice you have, I would have to agree that I would lean heavily towards the B7500.

Unfortunately the BX is quite a bit more stable than a 7500 on hills especially when moving along the face of a hill. J

The footprints and weight aren't that different between the two but the lower center of gravity on the BX makes a big difference traversing hills. I tried both and the difference is apparent. Setting the wheels out on the 7500 helps some.

Whatever works best,

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

Gunfighter,
Your post has me confused - it suggests that the BX2200 engine rotation is the reverse of real B series tractors. Yet, the BX2200 uses the D905 engine, same one Kubota used in the B1700 series (predecessor to the B7400).

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

I'm Not familiar with the B1700 but I've compared the BX 2200 with the B7500. If you raise the hood on a B7500 you'll notice the fly wheel is facing the rear of the tractor and engine turns turns clockwise. On a BX series tractor the fly wheel faces the front and it turns counter clockwise. The two engines would turn in the same direction, if they were facing the same direction. Don't take my word for it, raise the hood on one an check it out... RJK Sr..

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

Gunfighter writes:<font color=blue>"I would go with the B 7500, it's a compact tractor. The BX series is really a 4WD garden tractor. The way to tell the difference between a tractor & lawn/garden tractor is the
rotation of the engine."</font color=blue>
And then later adds:<font color=blue>
"If you raise the hood on a B7500 you'll notice the fly wheel is facing the rear of the tractor and engine turns turns clockwise. On a BX series tractor the fly wheel faces the front and it turns counter clockwise. The two engines would turn in the same direction, if they were facing the same direction."</font color=blue>

So by simply turning an engine around makes it either a CUT or garden tractor?/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

AAaaaaaaaaaand so what? The BX engine is mounted in reverse to provide the most compact exterior dimensions possible--advantage BX over the 7500/2410. I suspect Kubota will use reverse mounted engines on other tractors in the future and they will be better tractors for it. I sure wish my 2410 had the reverse flow radiator and engine mounting. I wish my fuel tank were more accesable, I wish it had the short hood line and superior visibility of the BX. I wish it had the short front over hang the BX has also, I wish it did not blow hot air back on me. All these real tractor advantages the BX has compared to some other tractors thanks to Kubota's clever/modern reverse mounting of the engine. Thanks Kubota. J

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

DaveNH, I think someone has become a bit confused but it is not me or you. The BX is really a better tractor in many ways than the 2410. When Kubota produces a new B series I would not be surprised if the engines are all reverse mounted--does anyone really enjoy lifting 5 gallon diesel cans up on your shoulders to fuel the tank over the FEL bar when on the BX you just walk up and fill to the fender port? You mean some folks really enjoy having hot air blowing back on them when the modern BX blows the hot air forward away from the operator? Cannot explain all tastes but fortunately between the orange, blue and green there is a machine for everybody. J

Re: BX Engine Rotation??

By turning the engine around permits Kubota to use the drive train, (transmission, rear axle) from their garden tractor line. Most shaft drive garden tractors turn their engine counter clockwise, all other tractor turn clockwise.. It doesn't make it good or bad, it's just an observation I made looking at small tractors this past year...

The 7400 has no power steering. This is something I would think you'd definitely want.
