Could not help but think when I read these words...
If you have one they (the uses) will come... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Having a loader is one of the best parts of having a tractor...for many of us anyway... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif )</font>
My Cub Cadet garden tractor does not have an FEL. When I bought my NH TC24D I did not get the FEL becuase I had a FEL on the Kubota
B2910. It did not take very long to realize that I screwed up and I added a 12LA loader to the NH after the fact. When I bought my Ventrac 3000 I bought it to be strictly a mowing machine to speed up the mowing chores, and I think I have probably used the front "slip scoop" (sort of a mini-loader) for about 25% of the hours that I have racked up on that tractor. I think that Henro is right, you will find uses for the FEL that you never realized you had. But all that said, a garden cart and a shovel cost a couple thousand $$$ less than a FEL and can accomplish most of the same jobs . . . assuming your back is up to the task. For the first few years I lived in the country I didn't even consider a FEL, but as age crept up on me the desire for a FEL grew. Now I pretty much consider them to be indespensible, but often can't tell you exactly what it is used for because it seems to be used so frequently -sometimes as a simple tool carrier, sometimes to transport plants, sometimes to haul mulch, sometimes to haul building materials (see the thread about my daughter's playhouse), pushing snow in the winter, and they can even be used to carry the trash cans out to the curb!
I suspect that over time the desire to have a FEL will grow from "no need" to "how did I ever live without it?"
