BX23 - Starts right up - stalls when moving

On my bx24 W/ hydro....with engine running and I'm off the tractor I can push the pedal in the forward direction and inch the tractor foward. As soon as I apply more pressure the engine quits. Problem with switch or minor adjustment on alignment.

justturc. Thats how it works. Thats the safety kicking in. You get off the seat wit the pedal pushed down and it should cut out

Thank-you for the feedback fellow Kubota owners. Sounds like a switch or fuel filter issue.
Does anyone know what the switch with the white , thin, plastic toggle is for?
Also, the plastic toggle switch on my switch moves very freely and doesn't seem to have a function.

Hey Jim,
I might be wrong, but I think that switch is tied into the rear pto. On my 23, when I'm using my chipper, I have to swivel the seat around in rear facing (backhoe) position. Note when it's like this the switch is in the released (up) position. When the seat is swiveled forward (driving), there is a tab on it that holds the switch down.

Honestly I would not know. My BH has not been off yet. But soon.

There appears to be a lot of conjecture and little work being done here...

I would recommend finding and bypassing the operator presence switches to test. I agree with others that when I am not sitting on my tractor I CAN inch the tractor forward by pressing ever so gently on the forward motion pedal, but press too much and the engine dies. That sounds to me like the problem you are describing except that you are sitting on the seat. So the culprit could very well be the switches in the seat, pull the connector off the switch and jumper it with a paper clip for testing... if that does not work you could still have a broken/cut/pinched wire between the seat switch and where it connects to the control unit. To test that remove it at the control unit and jumper it there for TESTING.... I would not run the unit without the operator presence controls... these ideas for diagnosis only.

Two new questions:

I pulled apart the 2nd switch. This is the switch with the small, black box with the white lever that moves. There are three wires. How do I bi-pass this to test if it's the switch?

I believe there are two fuel filters. One is in the engine area. Where is the 2nd one? When many here have said replace the fuel filter, which one are you referring to?

Thanks

the filter under the tractor is the primary filter, if you follow the fuel line from the back forward it is the plastic one, next is the fuel pump, it is metal but appears to look like a filter. The filter under the tractor is easy to change, pinch the fuel line shut with a vice grip, use a pliers to slide the clamps away from the filter, 10mm nut driver to remove the bolt holding the filter bracket pull the hoses off the filter, reverse steps to install the new filter & you are done. I have problems with something clogging at the outlet of my fuel tank so I am well versed in removing the filter I can remove & replace in less than minutes

Both solutions could be the problem. The bolt in my seat came loose, and when it would lean to the left, it would shut the tractor off when trying to move.

As for the fuel filter, I had the same problem with gelling in the winter, idled just fine at full throttle, stepped on the pedal, died.

If it is a seat sensor, engage your PTO and see if it still dies. At least on my BX 24 it kills it when I engage the mower deck.
