I removed the switch that looks like a 1 1/2 inch black box with the white lever to my Kubota dealer today and I was told the white lever is spring loaded and my lever just moves from top to bottom with no spring action. It's $35 for a new switch and would take 3 to 5 days to get.

The BX23 mechanic was not in so we are to speak tommorrow and the manager is going to have him drive to my home which is 15 tp 20 miles away. We agreed before ordering the part it was best to have him check out the machine. I'll keep everyone posted on what happened.

I have to orange, half rounded flood lights on my roll-over bar I would like to replace. Does anyone know where I can buy them?

Glad you found something that caused the problem.

As for the lights, If you are referring to the hazard lights, they are available at your local TSC. messicks have them online too. If you are referring to lights at the top of bar which is what i think you are referring to, my guess is that they are customized lights and you may be better off replacing both same time.

The second safety switch (the black box with the white lever) was replaced today and this did not solve the problem. The Kubota dealer sent someone over and he believes it's the safety switch under the forward/backward gas petal. He mentioned the large, rear, tire will have to be removed to get to this safety switch.

The tires are filled with liquid to weigh down the tractor when I purchased it years ago so my feeling is the tire is going to be heavy. The dealer thinks it will be easier to raise the tractor by lowering the BH legs and the bucket to work on it.

He said it is not the fuel filter as many have sugguested.

I own a bx2350 and had a similar problem... after replacing the fuel filters twice, air filter once, tested the fuel pump, all to no avail, I sent the tractor to the dealer.... what "we" found during tear-down was that the fuel tank had a large "fur-ball" of grass inside the tank - this "fur-ball" would make its way to the outlet on the tank under load and starve the engine.... what could have possibly caused this? I am meticulous about using clean fuel and making sure my fueling is staged to be as clean as possible to prevent just this... turns out, the seal on the fuel cap was improperly seated (the seal was actually installed upside down, and on top of that, not even fully seated in the groove on the cap) and there was a large gap that allowed trash and dirt to get into the tank when the engine was running.... just as a thought, maybe you could check the fuel cap for a proper seal. If the seal on the fuel cap is found to be "suspect", I would then inspect the contents of the fuel tank thoroughly for debris....

Keep us posted.....

Well I'm very frustrated. The dealer felt it was the safety switch that is over the rear tire
so now this is the 3rd safety switch to be replaced. This switch is almost like the button switch that is under the seat. Today I removed the large, liquid filled rear bar tire and found the safety switch, which still was hard to get to. I managed to slip the wire off and pluged the new safety switch in and the tractor would not start unless I push the button in so I knew the new switch was working. I started up the tractor, which starts up great and runs strong, until I pressed down on the gas pedal and it starts to die until I let up on the gas petal and it comes back to life. Now I'm pissed that I've now purchased three safety switches and the tractor still is not fixed. I decided to change both fuel filters after a couple poster suggested that may be the issue and that still did not resolve the problem.

When it was serviced last fall, the mechanic mentioned it cleaned the gas tank since there was a lot for filth in it. The last poster felt it may be a dirty tank..have not used the BX23 very much and do not mow with it, so I am basically out of things to check. I am thinking of having the dealer come by and pick it up. Wondering if it could be the fuel pump...and other thoughts would be appreciated.

I am not that familiar with your particular tractor but you problem sounds fuel related to me. I am assuming you have checked and or replaced all the safety switches so that is eliminated. Fuel is the most likely cause. You will have to do a methodical process of elimination. Start by purging the line from the tank. I have seen many problems caused by crap in the tank. From there you will need to check the filters and line right to the mechanical fuel pump if you have one. Yours may be electric. Good luck as it can be frustrating but it does not sound too much different than a typical fuel starvation problem.:)

Once the tractor is started will it increase rpm if the throtle is opened up? If so I would suspect it is getting what it needs in fuel.

Unless it is starved really bad it will rev to high idle and then start to falter once load is applied. It takes very little fuel flow to rev a diesel but once the fuel rack starts to open is when a real supply of fuel is required. All revving tells you is there is enough fuel to rev not for full load.

OK, so I might not have the best idea or might be backwards, but a diesel will run basically until there is no fuel, no ealtrical needed except to get it to start.

So wouldn't the simple test if it is electrical as far as the safety switches to disconnect the fuel sylanoid (make fun of my spelling later) so that the engine won't shut off. Then see if it moves with the throttle pedal? In the end, aren't all the safety switches tied to that to shut the fuel off in some form?

After all if is a safety switch aligned or not, this would be a pretty good way of determining that.

If it isn't a switch, then it is something in the mechanics of the fuel system. Weak fuel pump, clogged lines, air getting in somewhere, etc...

Also, I had asked if you engaged the PTO if the tractor shut off or not, I don't remember seeing an answer. If there is a safty switch issue, the PTO would most likely cause it to shut off too. At least on mid pto it does on my BX 24. Not sure about the mechanics on your tractor though.

Is there any way that your backhoe is causing this? If I am running the backhoe, and try to move the tractor by pressing on the forward peddle, it will start to die.
Also, if I am standing beside the tractor with the engine running, and press on the forward peddle, it will start to die.
Or does the safety switch that you have been replacing affect this two things?
Or does your transmission start to whine like your parking brake is set?

When you turn the seat around there is a safety switch that is not connected to the seat, so pushing the throttle will cause it to die. Second not being in the seat when it is turned around in driving position will cause it to die when you step on the gas pedal.

On my BX 24 that switch in under the right front of the seat. You will notice that nothing holds the button in when the seat is turned around.
