BX2370-1 / buyers remorse?

I know this will open a can of worms but I don't consider the BX series as being a Tractor and I have 3 of them. A lot of folks try to get to much out of them. I would rent a small excavator or backhoe to get stumps heavy brush cleaned up and not damage your BX trying to do to much. Its hard to undo damage if you know what I mean.

We recently had a massive wind storm. Gusts over 100mph.

I've got houses on 3 lots. 11340, 10800, 7382 square feet -- so about 2/3 of an acre total.

The storm took out about 600 feet of privacy fence and a couple trees. A few more trees need to go.

All 3 properties are in need of complete landscaping / xeriscaping , plus some negative-grade issues causing water intrusion in one.

Bought the BX2370-1 w/FEL & Land Pride PD10 post hole digger. $0 down, 0% APR for 60-months deal.

Thinking I can spend a year (or two) making payments and getting everything in order myself, then sell it and come out ahead -vs- hiring someone to do all the work.

I still think the basic premise is sound, but after ~7hrs now on the BX2370-1, I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone up a size to the B-series.

Michael I can assure you the Kubota BX is one great machine. I know you've watched some of our videos but you need to look at our property work videos if you want to see what a BX can do. I used to operate big heavy equipment for a living one time. Spent years on Cat machines and a few years ago my wife bought me a BX25D. Although I appreciated what she did by buying it I honestly thought that the little tractor was to small to do anything and I thought to myself that I'd keep it for a year and sell it. Well after a few months and a lot of cool work I did with the machine I told myself that it's about the best toy/tool I ever owned and if someone wants it they'll have to pry it from my dead hands.
Give yourself some time with the BX and you'll understand what I'm saying. Happy tractoring ......Paul

I was always told the little tractors will still get the work done, it will just take more time.

Just don't push the BX over its limits, take your time and use your head. Try for foresee unsafe situations and how you or the equipment can be damaged.

From what I read, I think the BX will handle everything but the heavy grading, I think it will do it if you have the patience, ripping up new ground is hard on equipment.

I also don't see you getting rid of the BX lol, once you have one you will find jobs to do with it you couldn't before.

Just make sure if you haven't already, read the owners manual and understand the capabilities of the little tractor and don't over do it. Keep the fluids filled, air filter blown out and clean and you should be fine.

Your not dealing with too much property, once you get going it will go pretty quick. Especially the fence, you could get all your holes dug in a weekend, another weekend to set your posts and bury them and another weekend hanging your fence. Good luck

It's been hovering around freezing here lately -- and especially on the weekends -- so I haven't spent much time with it, but I do like it.

I went back-and-forth between the BX25D and the BX2370. I just didn't (still don't) have a feel for how useful the backhoe would be in my situation. Also seemed like it would be a pain to switch between the backhoe and the post-hole-digger. Figured I could rent a backhoe if necessary.

Now that I've thought about it some more, I guess I could have just gotten the BX25D and rented the post-hole digger as necessary. I was kind of fixated on the fencing project.

The dealer did mention I could add a backhoe at any time to the larger B-series. I was just concerned it was simply too big for my tiny properties.

As I've been reading the specs though, it reads to me like the larger B-series is similarly manueverable in tight spaces.

My original intent was to sell whichever tractor after these projects are finished. We'll see how it plays out.

At this point I can already see myself keeping the BX longer. If I'd spent ~$10K more on something larger I'd have a harder time keeping it around for the occasional task.

Stupid question. Do you have grass? If so are you not going to mow with it?

Not much grass, and my intent is the get rid of most it. Xeriscape. It's high desert here.

I need to replace fences all the way around both of these, plus the negative-grade issue on one.

I also want to cut the backyards in half with a fence.

Remove several of the trees and maybe rock the entire backyards and front yards.

Then more fence at the other house, and some kind of re-landscaping the front yard. It's been taken over by nightcrawlers.

I know you've watched some of our videos

I'm originally from just south of Winnipeg Manitoba. it's fun to listen to you guys converse.

Definitely enjoying learning the tractor stuff.

I grew up watching my grandpa maintain his lake property with a 1950 Ford 8N, but I never drove it.

My thinking is to dig around them with the post-hole digger and then pull them out with a combination of the BX2370-1, truck (2003 Tundra 4x4), winches and pulleys.
I'm not sure this is a good idea. I would be afraid the auger might get caught on a root and screw itself into the ground. Since there is no reverse on a PTO it could be quite a challenge to get it back out.
