BX2370-1 / buyers remorse?

I would agree with 4shorts and others about being able to get work done with these small machines, and particularly the need to have enough weight. A post hole auger is NOT enough weight on the back end of a BX to make much difference, though. Adding a 48" box blade (weighs about 400 lbs), plus fluid in the rear tires (100 lbs, give or take), plus an "appropriately robust" operator (225 lbs or more), will make your BX quite a bit more useful. Having lug tires instead of turfs is also helpful for traction. And that box blade is a great tool for dirt work. Were I to do it over again, I'd go for the BX + backhoe since that's the perfect tool for dealing with stumps. But that's water over the dam now for me; my little BX has done everything you've mentioned plus mowing for more than 10 years now. It really shines for work in confined places like the yards you showed.

I've dug out stumps with my Bx and my end loader. I just dug in with the end loader, cut all the roots I could with the end loader, and pulled it out with my truck. I ended up with a heck of a hole, it was maybe a 15" tree and it took me a couple of hours. I also would be afraid of a post hole digger getting stuck.

I still think the basic premise is sound, but after ~7hrs now on the BX2370-1, I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone up a size to the B-series.

Definitely. I made the same mistake, thinking a BX could do light tractor work where it might be too tight for my L4200. It's pretty good at mowing grass, but the bucket is more of a powered wheelbarrow than anything, and the little wheels coupled with lack of weight make traction a constant problem. I use mine 99% for mowing grass, so it's OK, but I would've been happier with a B myself.

Ignore the naysayers , you will be impressed with what you can do with your BX, it just takes a little longer , as your skills increase and your attachments get added to your arsenal, you will enjoy taking care of your homestead and proud of the results that are also gas efficient too !

Also if you bought it new might as well keep it a few years, it won't lose too much more value by then, if you sell it now, it would be a wash

The original plan was to sell it after a year or two when these specific projects are done.

With that in mind, I still wonder if I wouldn't have been better off spending another $5K - $10K for something larger, as I'd ideally get roughly that same $$$ back in the end when I'm done.

I just wasn't sure how big I could go without overwhelming these small spaces. I'm still not sure.

The flip side of that is I'm already finding several projects that weren't part of the original plan. If I wind up just keeping it, it may have been the right choice after all.

It's a lot easier to have a ~$15K tool pay for itself and be sitting around for the occasional project than a $20K, $25K, $30K tool.

My local Kubota dealer tells me more than 80% of his tractors are sold with Kubota's (so called) '0%' financing, usually with a five year term, so if you availed yourself of Kubota financing a heavier tractor would only cost you $20?, $30? more per monthly payment.

Right. Exactly.

My main concern wasn't so much the cost of a larger model. Just that something larger would be too big for the space(s).

I spent 6 hours with my butt planted on the seat of the Bx 24 . I was cleaning up a debris pile and knocking over some small trees , and separating stumps and logs out of the pile . I have a larger tractor a 35 hp New holland . But the area was tight , the New Holland was too big . Now when I load the dumpsters with the stumps and logs I will take the NH , since it lifts higher .
