bx24 MMM compability

If my memory serves me right, the BX22/23 looks almost the same as 24. The front mount, the driveshaft and gearbox location looks idectical to mine comparing to volfandt pics. The only difference is the rear mounting. You will need to cut the old tabs off and fabricate new ones. The BX24 mounting is more to the outside. If you do get the older deck, send me a PM and I'll take my deck off and measure and take pics. (first gotta pressure wash it, it got ths years of mowing grime/grass on it right now). I probably will take it off this weekend and do a good greaseup and sharpening of blades- its at that time for me anyways.

thanks
i will keep you all updated

But are they modifiable ?

OF course! if you can cut and weld metal. That's all the deck is made of. Its not made for the faint of the heart with no metal fabricating skills.

I have the bx22 mower deck on my bx 24 all I did was turn the rear spring loaded pins around backward to make them reach thew the bracket

hi
any way you can post a pic or two? I was told/read that from the bx22 to the 24 the tractor was 4inches wider and the attachment points would have to be changed to work??

thanks

i am about to pull the trigger on a RCK60B bx22 deck to adapt to my bx24. I was just looking for anybody to chime in that has done this. I would appreciate any pics or words of advice/caution ect. I hate to spend the cash and not be able to make it fit. So far all I have found out is that only the two rear mounting points need to be cut and moved to make it work. Also i think one member here just reversed the pins on his bx24 and the bx22 deck fit.

any last words before i make the purchase will be a godsend

take care all

Well, I certainly don't have any last words, but isn't it possible if you could "borrow" the bx22 deck and slide it under the BX24 and just take a look ? Connect the front mount, hook up the mid pto shaft and put boards underneath the deck and level it off to where you could pretend it hooked up. Then decide if this is the way you want to go and how much you need to modify. If it just the rear mounting points that needs to be changed, then a simple welding job will do.

the problem is the guy selling the deck is 2 states away a I would have to trailer it there and then still try to haggle on a price ect. Its too much trouble, i wish i knew somebody that had one close by.

It's just my opinion, but unless you can really buy that deck cheap, and enjoy the time to go get it, and modify it so it will work, hopefully well you should just buy a deck that fits. Just doing your own installation on a new deck will save you some money.

hmm- 2 states away ? where about? maybe one of the tbn'er would dbe close enough with a BX 50 series to check it out for you.

Well finally have an end to the mower deck saga. After losing one deck to somebody on craigslist, i found (rck60-22bx) this weekend. The deck was in phenominal shape I paid 800.00 for it. I mounted the deck (all except the two rear lift points) I made all the measuremnts I had to, removed the deck and carefully cut off the two rear attachment points off the deck. According to what I found the old deck was 2" to narrow on each side, the old deck having the attachment points 16" from center to center, in order to fit the bx24 the holes had to b 20" from center to center. I got the thing welded up today and tested it out with no issues. All i have to do is adjust everything up service grease and change the fluid and put it up till spring. I have a few pics if anybody is thinking about the same thing. I saved well over a thousand dollars picking up a "good used' bx22 deck and modifying it to fit the neweer machine.

Awesome!! I knew there is not much to change, just had no way of verifiing this. Now the real test will be this spring to see how it performs.;) Glad to hear there is no real difference in which deck to use.

Good deal!

Would love to see some pictures of your modifications.

I actually tested the mower out in the back yard, i had some high spots and leaves ect. The cut looked pretty smooth and even but I will go thru the adjustment process in the spring. Right now I am gonna scrape the botom of the deck paint it whre needed and to a complete service/grease and put it up for the winter.

here is a pic of what was done. each side was cut and widend by 2 inches. All that has to be done is add a small piece of stock for side support of the "tab" and paint.

looks good. I see alot of flux splatter though  . what didyou use to weld with? just recently I sanded off the paint from the bottom of the deck that is only 3 summers old and found that some of the paint the was worn away had rust underneath the edge of paint worn away. After I was done removing the paint, I swore never again do it that way. Next time Ill take it to the blasting shop and let them do it.

So- my advice if you have plans to paint it, do it next fall after you get the deck dailed in and have somebody sandblast the deck for you, unless you have your own equipment. Don't try the harbor freight hand held one- too tiny for the BX deck.

I am sure some of that id flux spatter considering the way i weld. :) The welder is a little lincoln/mig running flux core wire. But actually most of what looks black there is PB blaster mixed with the metal shavings that my sawzall cast off as I was cutting the tabs off. I only had one blade and I was very generous with the lube, I knew if I took out the "fire wrench" there would be problems . :)
