BX24 wheels on BX23?

Thanks for the insight, Volfandt. I was wondering why I couldn't find R4's. Hence my desire to get a second set of wheels for my lawn rehab.

I don't plan to mount a mower deck just yet, at least during the rehab, so the contact issue shouldn't be a problem. But thanks for the warning, everyone.

I hadn't priced them out yet, but around 300 bucks seems pretty reasonable. I see sets on eBay for 400, and figured that was the goin' rate...

My Dealer said the 8" front BX23 wheels are no longer available and suggested I go with the BX24 style 10" front wheels...

Note, both tires have almost identical outside circumference from what I've been told.

Price has gone up a little too... Ball park $360 for a set of 4.

I bought my BX2200 with 2 full sets of wheels/tires: one turf, one ag. The turfs are available for a reduced price. If anyone is close enough to central CA to come get them or for shipping not to be a killer (is that even possible?) then PM me.

I have a BX2200. I have been wanting a set of R4's for a long time. Checked out this thread last year, and purchased a new set of BX24 R4's in January. Cost me ~$390 I think including shipping and tax. Believe it or not I did not get around to installing until tonight. Found a problem. The front axle spindles have a pilot diameter but the hole in the center of the wheel is just slightly smaller such that the wheel will not fit. Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you compesate for this problem? The only obvious solution seems to be to somehow grind the wheel ID slightly larger to where it fits. If so, the question is how best to accomplish. Really would appreciate some help on this one.

I have not yet checked the rear wheels to see if a similar situation exists. Anybody already know?

Seems like I remember they were very tight but I was able to draw them on with the bolts. How much too small are they?

Well, now I am confused. I just measured the two bores and found the new wheel to be slightly larger (.010"-.015") than the old. Of course, I had ground the new wheel bore a little bit last night, though did not actually even remove all of the paint before I stopped to think about it. It was lat evening, but I know the new wheels did not fit and appeared to be maybe ~.050" to small. Will have to double check everything after work today. Will let you know what I find.

Has anyone combined R4s in the front with Ags int he back (on a BX24) for winter plowing?

This is one of those times you wish you could delete your post. While at work today, I had an epiphany that made me realize the brainfart I had last night. Last evening I was focusing on the tread being oriented correctly. It never ocurred to me that the wheels also had an orientation requirement, but they do. Besides the obvious (valve stem that I did not look for) the lug holes are concave on one side and convex on the other, causing a protrusion on the one side (the side the lug bolts go). If you turn the wheels backwards, the protrusions act as standoffs to the spindle, THUS keeping the pilot hole from even contacting the spindle pilot. Turn the wheel around, and presto, the pilot hole contacts and fits perfectly over the spindle pilot.

Classic DUH moment!

It is possible to put the rear tires on backwards and not notice it untill you go to check the air pressure.
