Congratulations and you should enjoy this peice of fine orange. I enjoy it. Before I bought my Bx1860 I use to feel so much disabled to do many things, like one of old truck engine was put in the yard and I wanted to move that 10 feet away so I can keep my yard clean but couldnot do because there is no way I move 500 lbs alone and always need help. Yesterday firedup the tractor, put a strap around the engine and moved it in no time. I mowed the grass in fraction of the time compared to my lawn mower. Bought a generator from costco other day needed help to remove my truck "there goes my tractor with FEL again, Told my wife this is the kind of help I needed from tractor.

1*Well, I bit the bullet and bought a new BX25 last week.
2*I'll probably cut grass with ROPS down.
3*But maybe I'll just cut the branches off.
I don't know yet.
4*I found the ride around the yard to be quite bumpy,
but we had a bit of a mole/vole problem, so I think the ground is just more uneven than usual
5* (anyone have advice on how to flatten the yard?).
1*Congrats on the BX25.
Did you get it with the 3 point hitch ?
2*Not the best idea.
3*A better idea.
4*I thought my BX23 rode and drove like a Caddy.
Of course I'd been used to a Bolens 850 garden tractor for 38 years.
5*I just back drage any mole hills that I see when mowing down flat
with the Feel bucket.

Pressure can be in the hydraulic lines

The most probable reason for the quick connect difficulty is residual pressure

...This will relieve any trapped pressure and the last one should go on now.

I was having the same issue with yellow connector as well until I started doing huge circles on fel joystick after shutting the engine off...

I think the reason I was having trouble with the quick connect might have something to do with pressure in the hydraulic lines;).

Did you know that unhooking the FEL in the sun or area where it will have sun when you need to reconnect will make it hard to reconnect hoses ? as hydraulic oil expands from sun, it creates pressure.

Fortunately, I'll be doing all of my implement switching in the garage, so sun should not be an issue. I'll have to make sure to store the implements away from the windows though while they're not in use.

Thanks to all for the heads up up the hydraulic pressure. I never realized this could be creating the problem. But now that I think about it, it makes all the sense in the world. I almost can't wait to take the BH off an on again.

Glad you fixed your throttle, but isn't there some thing where you're supposed to keep it in low RPMs during the first 50 hours? Perhaps you should have left that nut loose for a while. :)

I think I read this in the manual, and my dealer mentioned it also. But he straight out told me it's unrealistic, especially since I will be mowing grass weekly. It took me two years to hit 50 hours on my G2160. I'm sure I'll hit it more quickly on this machine, but still not very quickly. The only thing my dealer warned against was using high gear. He basically told me that unless I'm driving it around the yard with no load, or driving it down to his shop, there's no reason to use high gear. He told me using high while cutting the grass won't hurt anything though. I found that while cutting a few days ago, I needed to use high just to zip around a little more quickly like I'm used to. I found that in low at WOT, I was moving pretty slowly, at least compared to the G2160 I was used to.

Did you get it with the 3 point hitch ?

No. I don't see myself ever using it, but if I need it, I can always add it. Someone suggested a roller, but I don't know if my other half would ever see the justification, and honestly, I'm at my budget's end with large purchases, though I have no idea what a roller costs.

At the risk of making myself a target of the safety police, everywhere, I'd say mowing a perfectly flat lawn, sans ROPS is not exactly life threatening. As you said, your big Kubota diesel lawn tractor did not have them, ditto Deere's big X series tractors. Given how tall those ROPS are and how high you'd have to trim up everything, I'd say go on with life. Stay away from ditches or embankments. It's not like its going to just flip itself on a flat lawn. Geeesh.

How did you retrieve all those quotes and add them to this one post? I've been doing the copy and paste or answer each individually. Save me some time and tell me how to do this.:)

Congratulations on your new tractor; truly great little machines.

Regarding the "rough ride" have you checked your tire air pressure? I have found a few extra PSI can affect the ride quality and reduce/increase with/without FEL. I have had two BX's and neither rode smoothly, but you can mitigate this with air adjustments and of course smoothing your lawn. I haven't had much luck with mole elimination so far though.

There is another thread on "break in" you might want to check.

I tend to agree with BP on the ROPS; don't have one on my Fords, ATV, JD 425 etc. Now on anything but flat land; different story.

There is an option right next to the Quote Button to activate multi-quote (quotation mark picture with a plus sign). Go through the posts and click the multi-quote button. After you activate the last post you want to quote, just hit the quote button and it will do the work for you. I just learned this myself recently on another forum. Saves time and avoids double and triple posting!

Alright sir, do you know why I pulled you over? Let me see your poster's license and tractor registation...

This place is great because everybody's got something to teach as well as learn.
