I have been running backhoes for 30 yrs . Union operator , #841 local . If you are dragging the hoe you need to work on technique . You drop the loader bucket to keep the machine stable . The front axle has a pivot . Try loading a tandem with the bucket up and the x hoe extended and you will understand . Do you think a real operator writes those books ? Yes you pick it up off the tires . When loading trucks they may be fully extended . You are a good bunch of people , but not an operator in the thread that I have seen . Kevin .

I Angle my FEL to about 30ish degrees and put the blade in the ground a bit 1" or so. I do lift the rear tires about an 1" or so off the ground and use the stabilizers to level it. Never had a problem doing it this way---Guess it's my motto--"right way, wrong way and my way" :eek:
