BX2750 snowblower

I found a Lovejoy L099-20mm Jaw Coupling at Drillspot.com that looks like it will fit the bill. I may order that one and tell the guy that is putting the whole thing together for me that he has an option. I like the idea of a tight fit but he may not like the extra effort. I don't want to push my luck.

The weatherman is saying that we might get our first snow storm Monday or Tuesday and that it's all sweeping through from the West, so you might have to hurry this project up! John

Well, I called the guy that is going to install it and started to explain that the coupler didn't quite fit. I didn't get a chance to say that I found one that does fit. He interrupted and said, "That's no problem -- as long as it's smaller and not larger." I guess they deal with such issues all the time at a machine and tool shop.

I'm taking the blower and parts down to him this morning. He'll have his guys fabricate the mount for the motor. It seems the old adage holds true. "It's not what you know, it's who you know." And this forum is a great vehicle to that end.

"Jaybrad" found a machine shop a few miles from the neighborhood and a machinist that can fabricate anything...usually better than what we take to him for an idea. He has every kind of metalworking tool you can imagine and not one of his tools was built after WWII. The machinery is impressive and he knows how to use all the tools in the shop, as his father used them prior to him. Best of all, he has a sense of humor and tends to charge way under what he ought to. This will sound contrary, but we generally pay him what we think the work was worth, which has always been more than what he was asking. If I had known this place existed before I did my system, I would have taken the blower to him, told him what I wanted, and would have gotten quality installation for little more than what it cost me to do it myself. Those guys are hard to find anymore! Sounds like you might have yourself an experienced machinist where you are too? Dyer, retired

Yes. My son called me yesterday to let me know they had it ready. He asked if I needed it back right away because he had called one of his subcontractors and they said they'd powder coat the fabricated steel -- on the house. It will not be Kubota orange but something they call "safety orange" which he says is pretty close.

If we get any snow this weekend, I'll be happy to use my FEL. I should have the blower back Monday or Tuesday.

Just trying to do set up for my chute rotator. I wanted to try this eaton char lynn motor I had before building the mount. I borrowed the hoses off the up down cylinder for the 2750 and moved the quick disconnects over to the empty ports for the FEL. Here is newbee hydraulic question... I only get it to turn one way - of course if I reverse the hoses it goes the other way. Is this a pump issue or a plumbing issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure? I made sure my hydraulic motor was reversible, but I don't recall seeing any that weren't. On mine, if I go too far to the right, I hit the detent and it stops turning. I can feather mine to the right from slow to full speed up until I hit the detent, but I can feel when it's there now....kind of like the float mode when pushing the stick up...just before it locks in float. My guess is that your motor is reversible, so that's not it. I've also read some posts that talked about the detent being at the start of the right stick movement and that you have to go past that to get to the function. Have you tried hooking the hoses to the up and down and just try it to see if you get rotation both ways? I don't think I'm much help here, but there will be plenty of hydraulics experts that will know what's going on. John

Ok - switched to up/down and it worked perfectly.
Switched back to right left and I am back to only going one direction... when pushing stick right I can see and feel the hoses sort of loading up...

I take it back, I went on to the Surplus Center site and looked at the hydraulic motors and found several that don't specify "Direction - reversible." It seems that if they are reversible, they clearly state that fact, and then there are other motors advertised that just speak to torque at various gpm, but do not mention rotation. Again, there are a great many TBN'ers that will know the problem you describe. John
