BXpanded snow plow?

Ok, action shot now available.

Because you are all detail oriented people.

BXpanded 72" blade. 15 degree angle.

10" of HEAVY wet snow. Gravel drive.

tractor is a BX22, with rear chains (2-link), loaded with water/methanol, 5' rear blade for additional counter weight.

Video here:
bx22 plowing snow

What I've discovered:

I can't plow this much snow on an uphill slope. Not enough traction. Even on paved surfaces.

If the pile gets too big the front end is pushed to the side. This is minimized by puting the blade to the 30 degree angle setting.

When setting the blade to a zero degree angle you can push A LOT of snow.

The summer project will be to add hydraulic controlled angle function. There were far too many times when I wanted a different angle, but used the blade as-is and it probably took 5 times as long to do that segment as it would have to hop off and change the angle.

net-net I'm still happy with the purchase.

I push it across the street all the time. I do not leave the snow in the street though.

Sorry for getting off the op's original question but I just coud not help it.:D
In a city where in-laws live the city plows plow and push snow onto home owners sidewalks . If home owner does not clean off, city fines them.:D:D:D, N.Y. for you!

I actually wish that BXpanded had just modified thier bucket expander. Just make the side flair out like a snow pusher. That way it cuts a wider path. Thats all the BX really needs. The bucket needs to be wider for more effective snow removal. I get tired of making the same pass over and over because it falls out the side.

That would depend on the street too. My street is considered a private road. No speed limit and I can plow across it all I want. Heck, I HAVE to. Nowhere else to go with the snow from my drive.

Nothin' but woods, bushy tailed rats, & deer on the other side of the street from me. I'm also looking at the BXplow but since I just got the B2781 SB on the 3Phd this year, it's kinda hard to justify since I already have the FEL. Maybe next winter if I can show SWMBO the wear & tear on the FELs' edge.

It is April now and I can report that my new BXpanded snow blade successfully prevented us from receiving any more plowable snow in Virginia for the 2010/2011 season.

Blade is well build and goes on the tractor in seconds as others have described. I would love to use it but I guess it will be a lawn ornament for the next 8 months.

Thanks---I've seen that one---just looking for one in action---in the daylight!:D

That's a good one, kinda POV. I'd like to see a guy stacking snow 6 feet high. I've seen similar products and Harry's looks like it's the best built. Still looking at my options, including a copycat DIY project with my 54" ATV plow. I don't really ride the ATV recreationally, so I'll probably sell it---maybe with the plow. Anybody want a 2005 Bombardier 400XT? I think it has 700+ miles on it.

Can you back blade with that or would it pop off? Just wondering if it's good enough to pull snow away from some edges in tight spots.

Sure, you can back drag with it. It locks on tight.
